| smoke to lose weight Guess what a friend told me last night while we went to a small restaurant: He said that I should start smoking to lose weight. He said that his girlfriend did this and she lost 30lbs as she smoked whenever she felt like eating something. But I think this is so stupid as smoking is definitely not good for your body. Or what do you think about his idea? |

Yeah, his girlfriend lost weight, but she also lost a bunch of money, and is damanging her body. Guess what's going to happen when she tries to quit smoking? She's going to eat whenever she wants to smoke, and she'll put back on the 30 lbs, plus some.
Some people aren't very logical methinks.

Let's destroy your heart and lungs to lose a little weight, make you smell, your teeth yellow, and get you addicted from the nicotine and drain your wallet at the same time. . Smoking is an appetite suppressant, but not worth the negatives.
Imagine if she had chewed a piece of gum every time she was hungry instead.

| Re: smoke to lose weight Yeah I also thought so when he offered me is "great insider tip" how to lose weight. I am definitely not going to do this. And your statement is great Audrey and I am going to tell him about it. Probably she wants to stop smoking again one day and then she puts back on the weight! Well and actually there is not difference between smoking and being overweight as both isn't healthy at all! |

| Re: smoke to lose weight Even I think this is rediculious and I am a smoker and have been for many years.
I just had to work on one addiction at a time and since the weight was killing me faster then the cigarettes the doctor agreed the weight issue should be addressed frist. Now its time to get rid of the smokes and let me tell you I am not looking forward to it. But this summer they are going while I can be the most active. The plan for me is when I want to smoke I will go for a walk lol. I bet I will be putting in a lot of miles. But I have learned how to deal with the stress in my life without turning to food so I am sure I can get rid of the smokes without turning to food as well.

| Re: smoke to lose weight We have a smoking ban here in Illinois. A smoker cannot light up in or near bars or restaurants. I don't smoke cigarettes, but I think there is a good chance that smoking amoung young people might be reduced because people are so much more likely to smoke in social situations.

| Re: smoke to lose weight It seems to me here in Washington that it is mostly younger people smoking, I don't see many people over about 25 that smoke, I should say not many compared to how many used to. I think the highest percentage of smokers here is woman under 25 which sucks because you can take the most beautiful woman put a smoke in her hand and yuck she isnt beautiful anymore, its Especially bad if you kiss a smoker.

This is BAD idea.
I smoked for nearly two years. I can say this is by far the worst way to curb your appetite. Come on, people, it's called DISCIPLINE. It's amazing what happens when you learn to make sacrifices.
