| Natural MOSquito repellant Anyone have a recipe for a natural bug repellant? We have so many in our yard that I'm all eaten up and miserable.

| Re: Natural MOSquito repellant They say mosquitos are attracted to fragrant soaps/lotions/perfumes, so avoid those things. Also avoid wearing bright colours during prime mosquito hours.
I'm one of those people that mosquitos are attracted to, unfortunately. I can go running at night and come home with 5 mosquito bites, and my boyfriend won't get a single one.
Pulled this off the internet:
Some studies suggest that taking thiamine (vitamin B1) 25mg to 50 mg three times per day is effective in reducing mosquito bites. This safe vitamin apparently produces a skin odor that is not detectable by humans, but is disagreeable to pregnant mosquitoes (Pediatric Clinics of North America, 16:191, 1969). It seems to be especially effective for those people with large allergic reactions. Thiamine takes about 2 weeks before the odor fully saturates the skin.

| Re: Natural MOSquito repellant haha you guys are all funny. i found one that is just garlic juice and water and another that is witch hazel and eucolyptus (dont think I spelled that right) and then another site suggested just using rubbing alcohol and letting it dry before we go out. I think I'm gonna try them. although the garlic one will leave me stinky.

| Re: Natural MOSquito repellant They say that citrus is good for keeping bugs away. Buy the citronella candles or spray. It should help some.
We have alot of citrus trees in our yard so we don't have pests to bad because the trees repel them.

| Re: Natural MOSquito repellant Oh man I could have used some. I was up around Ottawa in Canada for a few days and got eaten alive by those damn things! I swear they smell blood! I would move away and they'd be gone, and then in a few seconds they'd be swarming around me!
