I'm finished my diploma program at the end of December, so that time is rolling around where I need to start looking for a job.
I'm anxious to go back to work (then I can buy pants that fit!!), but I just don't want to look for a job. I think a bit of it is laziness (oops), but I think another thing is that I get super nervous with interviews and such. I also think I'm not very sure of my abilities in my field. I'm fresh out of school so I know I'm not going to know everything, but it just makes me nervous.
Anyone else get the nerves like that with job stuff? I'm starting to worry about it a lot more now that the day nears

One of the things that made the job hunt harder was not knowing EXACTLY what I wanted when I first started. I used careerbuilder.com and monster.com to find exactly what I was looking for ahead of time. I wasted a lot of time considering jobs that I knew weren't ideal, but I interviewed just in case.
You should try to practice your interviewing skills. Check out these interviewing tips in the attached files; they may help you better prepare and thus feel less nervous. Good luck!

There was a career fair at school today which was really good. I talked to a lot of people from different companies.
I did a years internship for IBM, and they really want me back, but I don't think I want to go back to the same position. I hated driving all day to my calls (it was great for my weightloss though!)

On a side note, I tried to dress up a little for a career fair today (make a good impression), but discovered that all my work clothes are way too large for me.

Blah. So I've started the interviewing process.
I also have a job offer from IBM as part of the ABM group (fixing bank machines), so I have that to fall back on, but the pay isn't exactly what I was looking for....
I had an interview today with a law firm in Calgary. I'd be part of the three person IS (information services) team, I would do pretty much all the first level support, as well as helping with projects (they're upgrading all their hardware, as well as upgrading to Windows Vista and Office 2007 next year).
I don't think my interview went overly well. I was so nervous to the point of being sick to the stomach. I should know by next Tuesday.
I've got an interview this Monday with an engineering firm, an interview next Wednesday with another company (I'm not quite sure what they do, something with data management software I believe), and then another the day after with an oilfield services company.
I don't think I'm going to get any sleep the next week

Just thought I'd give a final update on this thread.
I was offered three jobs, one with IBM, one with the law firm (the interview I thought I bombed), and one with an engineering firm (the other two interviews I mentioned above, one I didn't want the job after it was explained in more detail, and the oilfield services one I didn't end up going to as I would have to relocate for it). After weighing the pros and cons of each job, I ended up choosing the engineering firm and have been happily employed there for just over two weeks!
Hopefully I won't need to go looking for work again anytime soon

The computer I work for does wind resource assessment for Wind Farms, so it's quite interesting

The company I work for goes into the field, sets up towers that measures the wind speeds, frequency etc, and then they use the software to put that data into charts etc that other companies that operate windfarms can look at and determine whether it would be a good location.
I mostly know how to install the software, not how to actually use it
