Could you get a part time job if you go back to study? Maybe study part time and work full time?

I used to work full time while I went to classes at night.

Yes, going to school p/t and working is what lots of people do.

Or, if you go to University, you can take 3 classes a semester and work, and then try and make up the other 2 classes over the summer (and still work) so you're not actually taking years longer to get a degree.

But you would have to suck it up with the finances while you're doing this.

I'm all for education...so I'd suck it up, go to school, and then work. Better now than when you're 40...and that's what a LOT of people end up doing (they keep putting it off). And then they're sorry theyn didn't just go to school when they were in their 20s.

Get a part time job, Classes at night is also a good option, there's 24 hours in a day, I'm sure you'll know how to make it work..

It's worth noting that a college degree is not a guarantee of employment. While this sounds obvious on the surface, there are a lot of recent graduates that are very angry with "the system" for not providing what they assumed would be a sure thing.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do. It's not an easy decision to make, but a degree never hurts, so if you have the ability, I say go for it.

Very true. Make sure you have a realistic job expectation at the end of your education. 'Just' getting any old degree doesn't mean much these days.

Even getting a degree or a diploma (inthe same general field) from a different institute might get you a different job. For example a 4-year degree in computer science from a university is/can be quite different from a 2-year degree in computer science from a tech. college. One's not better than the other...but one may get you the job you want, the other will not.

Thanks for the input guys, yeah im going to go for something practical. First ill do the pharmacy technician and then ill try and get my cdl. Two opposites on the spectrum i know but i think those two are pretty important in the workforce nowadays.

I like the pharmacy technician idea. Anything dealing with health or personal well being is always going to be in demand as long as the occupational pool isn't over saturated.

My advice would be If you know what you'd like to study then go for it but a lot of my friends coming out of high school (including myself) Just studied because we felt we had to. Which isn't a great idea as you spend all this time studying something just to find you dont like the work environment or the useual hours etc etc.

Long story short If you know what you want to do study is great if your iffy do more looking around before committing to anything. GL!

Is practical going to make you happy in the long run? Those most successful/happy people tend to be the ones doing something they love.

I too agree on going to school part time while you work. On the flip side, there's always the option to take out student loans if you decide to go full time.

Depending on what type of job you're looking to get, many spend a year or two in community college and transfer to a full university for those types of jobs where graduating from a university looks better on the resume.

If you do go back to school make sure you are going to be trained in doing a job. Do not waste your time with a degree in political science or history. These things are important and interesting but they do not pay. Things that come to mind are nursing, respiratory therapy, engineering, etc...

I'm in the exact position as you except I'm 20 and have a part-part time job... Yes part part as I only do a day or two.

I see education as a safety net in years to come as the future looks grey to me. Around this age you can have alright part time jobs and maybe a huge career if we weren't obese but in years to come you'll be expected to have all the grades and all the experience.

Most companies are basically buying skillsets from employees at wholesale prices.
