I get people asking me all the time about how to get rid of those annoying pop-ups and how to speed up your computer when it starts to bog down a bit. "Spyware" is what causes many of the popups you get on your computer. Think of spyware as hidden unwanted files on your computer that trigger pop-ups.
For those that aren't aware, a company called Lavasoft makes a great spyware eliminator called Ad Aware, and it's free. Here is a link to the free download. It's safe for all to use. The IT department at my company tells all of us to use it on our company laptops (even though it's not approved for use by our firm) because it's that good. Check it out and see how many spyware files you remove! You should notice that you'll get less popups immediately. I'm running it we speak and so far it's detected 154 spyware files (a.k.a. critical objects)
I recommend doing this every week, especially if you're a frequent internet browser.
