| Thoughts about Gastric Bypass after 4 years Hi
The pros about having the surgery is
1. having more energy to do more walking
2. You don't have the stares and looks (or as many) for when you go out to eat
3. You can fit into a lot more of your clothes that you wished u could
Cons
1. So many clothes that I wore when I was big were so comfortable, I don't want to give up, that is hardest to do is to give up big comfy clothes
2. The pain u have when ur full --I'm still learning to not eat so much, but then again I've lost full appetite too, too much stress in my life
Thanks again for letting me write here. I have a feeling I will be venting about my stress here more often, and hope I can get some feedback on what to do with some of it. I really appreciate that.

| Re: Thoughts about Gastric Bypass after 4 years Great information Lisa, thanks! Just curious, how were things for you when you first had the surgery? How long did it take for a full recovery? Any side effects?

| Re: Thoughts about Gastric Bypass after 4 years The recovery was long, the surgeon wanted make sure u eat protein shakes. Told me to start with Baby food, (cause no lumps) and easy to swallow, it was digusting, I did have to go back in where they put u under for like 5 minutes and open doing an endosocpe through the throat to stretch the stomach out a little more, cause I couldn't keep much down, surgeon said that was normal (may have do it up to 5 times i've done it 3).
You MUST remember to take your vitamins. I am a bad time of taking meds.
and You MUST get up and walk when they tell you to after surgery, or you can get blood clots in your legs. I love walking now.
I don't remember how long it took for a full recovery, but I was back at work after 6 weeks but part time for the 2 months after.
I hope this helps everybody

Lisa | Good Morning Lisa,
I had my surgery almost 7 yrs ago now.
I agree about the comfy clothes I still have a couple sweatshirts and nightgowns I love to wear mostly when I dont feel good.
