| On the road to weight loss! Good Morning!
I'm a 51 year old woman with a BMI of 37. I have existing comorbilities such as engina, high HP, foot problems, joint problems, depression (under control with meds). I have had one appointment with the dietician, and my pycho. evaluation scheduled for Oct. 31 (Halloween). I am interested in learning everything about bariatric surgery (the good and the bad). I have several more appt. scheduled with the dietician, and hopefully in 6 months I will be on the road to recovery from obesity. I would like to know what comorbilities qualify for surgery. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from all.

Lynn (Lillysummer) | I'd read around this forum, there are some good and some bad stories to see. JBlack made a good post of everything he had to go through to get approved, which is one of the toughest aspects. What type of bariatric surgery are you looking into?
Welcome!

| Re: On the road to weight loss! I am seeking a RNY. I feel there is more research to be done on the lap band. I want my new lifestyle to be of a permanent nature. I have no plans to fail, only succeed! I am soooooo worried about not being accepted by BCBS of MN. My angina went undiagosed for over a year, and the docs finally found meds that relieved the pain but not all the symptoms. I've had two foot surgeries to relieve the pressure on the soles of my feet, and they are somewhat improved. It would be great to lose weight and relieve even more pressure! I would like to share experiences with everyone. Thanks for your reply. Lynn |

Lynn | The procedures overall are somewhat similar from doctor to doctor/insurance company to insurance company, but each one has their own prerequisites. You may want to practice reducing your calories now because one of things required right before and then after the surgery is that you reduce your calories dramatically.
