Well it turns out this wasn't the actual class yet, but an orientation to explain to us about the 3 surgeries they offer & everything that goes along with it.
1st is the:
LapBand.
Then the new fav. of the doctors.
The sleeve gastrectomy.
& finally the gastric bypass.
Personally I like the idea of the new one that has only been being performed here in the USA for about 4 years, so they don't have any long term data.
The Gastric bypass actually scares me..
due to the fact that if you for what ever reason you need to take medications in the future that are life maintaining, this surgery could present a problem.
Being that since the part of the stomach that absorbs many of the nutrients & medications is now disconnected & by passed that can present problems in the future.
Also if you even need them to stick a camera down your throat to take a look at things inside as I had done last year, they cant do it any more because of the way the insides have been altered.
Both with gastric & lap band there are issues with food you did not chew small enough or large horse pill medications..
The pills you would just grind up & drink with water.
But let say a piece of broccoli, if you took to big a bite & swallowed it can basically get stuck & then your visiting the hospital for emergency surgery to get it out, unless your good at making your self throw up to wash it back up. ( I myself can not make myself puke.)
With Gastric they told us that we can pretty much forget about eating red meat & chicken for up to a year & that fish ( I don't like fish ) is better because its so soft & is less likely to get stuck.
& Being I do enjoy a drink ( Nightly

) seems the sleeve is much more friendly to a drink than the gastric due to the no dumping thing... You still retain a stomach to absorb things natrually.
The whole thing does make me nervous

but I will be stepping forward to the next step at this point to learn more....
