I like to look at weight loss surgery as a last resort. Even if you have the surgery, it's only temporary because if you cannot change your eating habits, then you'll gain the weight back. Eventually you're going to have to make a lifestyle change and adjust your eating habits.

At 17 years old you can easily lose that weight! Start exercising and eating right and the weight will fly off.

surgery should only be the answer when everything else fails... you're too young to do that. You can lose the weight without that extreme measure...

Being seventeen and talking about a whole life, well it sounds a bit funny to me! Your life is just beginning! And overcoming your weight issues the "hard" way through proper nutrition and exercise than resorting to "easy" solutions will boost your self esteem and give you experience and strength to deal with other kinds of problems in life.
