Hello all,
First I will explain what I am doing here:
I am currently working toward my MSW (master in social work) as well as completing a thesis for my Sociology review. Myself, being someone who has had a load of difficulties with weight, I am seeking to fully understand individuals' opinions, who like myself, are trying to overcome this issue. My research will consist of the advertising media and how it sends mixed messages of fast food corporations and then the all too well known images of the "perfect size zero body". I basically wanted some opinions on how individuals felt about these advertising mediums.
Secondly, I am looking into the genetic factor that has been approached over the past decade concerning obesity. Such as certain genes and factors that play a larger role in certain individuals have obesity problems. My aim to to discover whether this genetic research into obesity is a reality, or it too is a construction of large corporations intending to take advantage of individuals who have obesity problems. For example, looking at the genetic research and the corresponding levels of diet pills that explain to combat the genetic component, as well as the steadily rising number of bariatric surgeries (gastric bypass, lap band surgery, etc).
I am letting everyone know this information so that anyone who decides to answer understand that this is solely a research and that no individual names or user names would be used in the research. The way that I will be using these forums is to simply get different opinions on the subject in order to further my research and to look into different ideas which any of you may have.
