| Gastric Bypass and my new life
Hello
I had gastric bypass surgery on 11-16-07 and I am looking for support to get through the months to come. My weight is dropping and I will have clothes to share with others, if needed. I look forward to hearing from others with weight concerns, or information. I would like to share what I have learned with others myself.
Healthy eating,
Lana

Hello and congratulations on your surgery! I'm sure there are others here with clothes to share as well! You may not get a big welcome since this is posted in the sell/trade forum, but nonetheless, welcome!

That is wonderful news. Keep up the fantastic work. It's not as easy as people make it out to be. Happy healing. I don't believe I will have much access skin. I have 125 pounds to lose and I am down 25 pounds 3 weeks after surgery so I am on my way just 100 more pounds to go! It is exciting to be on the right track and getting back into shape after 25 years of this extra weight on my bones.
Your doing fantastic you rock!

When you say it is not as easy as it seems, can you tell me where you found the greatest challenges? I have considered bypass, but I have been able to loose weight on most any plan. Problem is, when the plan is over, so is the following.
It has been a battle, but I now know that now is the time. Not tomorrow, or next week, but now. I am researching alternatives and would like some insight to what you guys experienced.

Healthy eating,
Lana | congratulations on your operation, i myself want the gastric bypass surgery, well have been advised it by doctors. i went through all the consultants and tests and was excepted for surgery and put on the waiting list, then 2months later was taken off due to the criteria, i am 32st myself and i am 25, my bmi is 73, but because i haven't got the health related problems like diabeties and heart disease i am not aloud it, i have been fighting this decision for a yr now and have appeared on t.v in jope of help with it, but so far nothing has changed i am still not aloud to have it on the NHS. what is the surgery like, wat do u go through after surgery and how quickly do u start to lose weight.

just remember, bypass surgery does not teach you how to eat right. Some people on bypass surgery may appear thinner and healthier, but they may not be any healthier at all, just lighter. So I urge you to learn to eat healthfully while you drop off the pounds. Fruits and Vegetables and other natural foods that contain fiber will give you a longer feeling of satiety than some other poor food choices.

Well for myself I was losing very nicely then we had a bunch of deaths in the family, I had a granddaughter that died at 30 min old, then my father died and then one of my sisters died and the next month to the day my other sister tried to kill herself.
After all that I was back to eating all the junk food I could eat, chocolate, chips ect,. And what I did was graze all day long. I was back to having food by my chair in the living room and before I would think the whole bag would be gone. I had a 70lbs gain after that and was scared to death that I had ruined the surgery, So I got checked out and found that I had not ruined anything everything was as it should be. And I guess you could say that was the turning point for me. It took me a few months to get comfortable with a healthy eating plan my body could tolerate and went on from there.
I guess the biggest thing is you have to be very careful and not let the pit falls in life put you back in the dark places that made you get to the size you are.
But for myself that was the struggle and through all of that I did come to realize I thought surgery would be the easy way out, Even though I knew if I didnt get it I would die, way before my time.
I hope this helps some

| Lap Band
Hello everyone,
My husband and I decided to go through with Lap Band surgery and we have been very pleased thus far. Due to the cost involved in the United States, we decided to go to Mexico to have the procedure done. We started a Pod Cast to document our experience which has been GRRREAT! We invite you to listen at WLPN.net if you are contemplating this or any other weight loss surgery. |

Hate to put my 2 cents in here but I highly suggest everyone do everything in their power before trying surgery. There's a HUGE percentage that do the surgery and maintain their terrible eating habits and zero exercise and put the weight back on within a few years. Nothing like spending $$$$$ only to get obese again. You must learn to eat right and exercise for the long term! You can't be lazy and eat poorly and be in good shape, it's not possible. Just because you're "slim" doesn't mean you're healthy.

At our support meeting run by my doctor, his partner, the nutritionist and a nurse we have a garage swap. We put the clothes on tables by size and go shopping after our meeting!!!!
