Tummy Tuck Costs & Prices - How much does Tummy Tuck
An abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) is one option for battling the bulge. The costs of the procedures, however, may come as a bit of a shock if you aren’t aware of them going in. The prices tend to be a bit high given the nature of the procedure.
More Affordable Now!
Nowadays Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is more affordable than before.
You can get surprised about how prices of tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty) have changed.
Majority of people who delay tummy tuck do so because of the cost factor. The cost is high and usually between $2500 and $8500 for a tummy tuck, the cost depends upon the reputation of team you hire, length and complexity of the procedure along with the ancillary costs associated with the tummy tuck. The various factors which are effective in determining the cost for a tummy tuck are:
1. Surgeon’s Fees:
the cost depends on the tummy tuck surgeon’s reputation.

2. Medical Tests cost:
tests you need to undergo, before the actual operation, to be declared fit for the operation.

3. Operation Room Fees:

a mild shapeup can be performed within a surgeon’s operation theatre while a major tummy tuck has to be performed in a hospital.

4. Anesthesiologist fees:
depends on the team you are hiring.
5. Room/bed cost:
If the tummy tuck was lengthy, complex and the surgeons believe that you have to be kept under medical supervision you’ll have to pay for the room/bed fees as well.
6. Post surgery cost:
expenditures on post surgery medical prescription and specially designed compression garments.
A tummy tuck is more affordable today due to a number of reasons,
First and foremost: is that most of the surgeons are offering financing options. Insurance agencies may not cover the complete cost of a tummy tuck but certain procedures involved in the operation may be covered by your insurance policy.
Most of the surgeons may refer you to professional financial advisors who offer financial advice; in some cases these advisors can prove that the tummy tuck is a medical necessity, in such a case your insurance carrier will have to cover the cost of the entire operation.
You may also want to talk to your insurance agency, informing them of your decision of to undergo tummy tuck surgery, as it may increase the cost of future premiums.
Always consult about the costs with your local doctor .

$2,500 for a TT in the US it's just IMPOSSIBLE!
The average cost of a TT in the US with a board certified plastic surgeon is around $8,500 and this is a LOW cost.
There are many sites where people talk about their experience and the cost of their surgery (such as Realself) and when you see the average cost of what they paid, it is around $8,500.
People that are looking for a TT between $2,500 and $4,000 with a skilled surgeon need to go outside the US. For American people South America is the best place.
The problem in the US is not only the dr. fee, the prices are very high because of the hospital fees, medical team fees, insurance fee etc. When you go abroad all these cost are reduced so even if the surgeon fee is high,,, the rest is very low that’s why the global cost of plastic surgery in latin America is affordable.
So the unique way to pay around $2,500 for a TT is going abroad, and this is the safer way when you are looking for affordable cost with a good surgeon.
It’s what I did for my surgery and I had a great experience overseas. I went to the MakeoverTravel clinic in Bolivia - South America - and I paid $7,900 for a
- Breast Lift with implants
- Liposuction on many areas
- Buttock Augmentation with Micro Fat Grafting Technique (fat injection)
- Tummy tuck
The package includes also 15 days in a 4****hotel + complete blood test before surgery + transportation + bilingual assistant anytime I need,, it’s a very affordable cost.
At Makeovertravel clinic if you go just for a TT you will pay $2,700 including surgery, hotel and all the services I mentioned above.
I had the surgery in November 2010.

Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
Sure does. I wouldn't dream of going to someone that uses patient focused message board for freebie advertising. If a doctor can't afford real advertising, something is wrong.
I'm having my plastics done here in Mexicali, Mexico. Breast lift, implants, extended tummy tuck, tons of lipo, hospital, surgeon, the works for $7500. Took me a long time to pick my surgeon but I finally have. I was looking before I ever moved here, it's purely coincidental that I'm now in the same city but good for me so there are no hotel costs after I'm discharged from the hospital. And the hospital is the same one I had WLS and I love it. So it's worked out beautifully for me.
Some day I am going to be one very good looking old lady! HA Okay, I'm in my 40s so not old but there are days I sure feel old.

Hi TheRaKking, this is not an advertisement, this is just my experience and i post it because I think it could be very useful for many people. Today with the financial crisis there are millions people that can't pay $8,000 for a TT but really need it either for health issue or for cosmetic reasons,, whatever,,if i had a good experience overseas and my experience can help many people who are disparated to find an affordable solution, why not to talk about it?
This is just my point of view and I tell you that because I paid $7,000 for Breast Lift with implants , Liposuction on many areas, Buttock Augmentation with Micro Fat Grafting Technique (fat injection), Tummy tuck overseas whereas in my country I met 3 plastic surgeons and they all quoted me more than $20,000 for the same procedures.

.. about south america. I just said it's the best place if you live in the US because it's very close. I know that many people travel to Asia to find affordable cost (India, Thailand..) I think latin america it's better because of the distance.

Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
Mexico is actually a better option due to distance. Who the heck wants to fly for 24 hours after plastics?
There are super fantastic options in EVERY country and there are SUPER bad options in EVERY country including the USA.
Your initial post does indeed appear to be an ad. Who the heck signs up with a new board just to post about how wonderful her surgeon is? I'll tell you, a person pushing a given surgeon.
I came to THIS board for a very specific reason. No patient coordinators posing as happy, peppy, perky, patients pushing their surgeon on everyone. This board is as neutral as I have seen. Please don't screw this up for me.

Hi WASaBubbleButtInMX, don't worry about it, I understand you.
You are right; Mexico is maybe a best option in Latin America for distance.
I chose to go to Bolivia (that is in South America) because I traveled with my best friend and her sister and the sister has had a first surgery at makeovertravel clinic on 2009 and she was very happy with her results,, so I chose the safer option.
The place is not the most important, I think the most important is to meet a patient who already had a surgery performed in the clinic where you want to have you surgery,, because going abroad without even knowing the surgeon or the clinic where you will have your surgery is risky.
Tomorrow I will publish my before and after pictures, I hope you’ll like them.

Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
Heh... and we should trust a person that signs up on a new message board created for weight loss folks just to tell about how much she likes her plastic surgeon from 5 months ago? For real?
Personally I would never dream of having major plastic surgery (it has far more risk than WLS) in a 'clinic'. Hospital only for me. That holds true if the surgeon is in the US and especially if it's not in the US. For example, in MX there is emergency services. If you need to be transported to a hospital quickly you call the ambulance and they will get to you just as soon as they can. There just aren't enough EMS folks. So a fool would have surgery at most clinics in MX instead of already being in a hospital in case of complications.
Now, with that said I would go to a clinic in MX for smaller procedures but there is a difference here, I know how the system works. If there was a major complication the hospital I would want to be transported to has their own ambulances. Their paramedics work in the ER until they get a call and they are out of there in a flash. You call the hospital and they are there just as fast as in the US. How many people typically know these details? So I don't suggest clinics for anyone traveling outside the US.
I went to your website and it explains the reason we can't find much info on the surgeons is because in that country it is illegal for doctors to advertise. Well, I have a problem with that. When I am researching a surgeon I am not looking for their advertising. I am looking to see if they are licensed, if they are board certified, what their death stats are, I want to see about 100 patient testimonials and not just those the medical tourism company wants me to see but the bad testimonials as well. A bad testimonial does not mean the surgeon did anything wrong, the patient may well have unrealistic expectations but I want to be the one to decide that when I'm researching a surgeon that will be operating on me or someone I care about.
I want to be able to google their name and have pages and pages of hits. And you know what? I can't even find the names of the surgeons on the website. Instead I am told:
Yeah, I don't think I am going to let a medical tourism company pick my surgeon. What is the value of showing photos of these doctors but not their names? I will choose the surgeon myself. Each doctor will be custom picked according to his/her specialty.
Medical tourism companies are notorious for signing up any surgeon that owns a scalpel and signs his name on the dotted line. One place was pushing a surgeon that doesn't even have a medical license! He went to medical school he just couldn't pass those pesky tests to get his license. Doesn't matter, he just operated without a medical license. He was caught and he's in prison now (Mexico) but the point is the medical tourism company didn't even bother checking to see if their surgeon has a medical license or not.
It is very common for weight loss surgery and plastic surgery patients to experience the honeymoon stage of surgery where they are the most excited and thrilled and they decide they want to be a patient coordinator. They sign up for lots of message boards just sure they can pick up bunches and bunches of business. Then when they find out it's not so easy they move on to something else.
My suggestion to anyone looking for surgery in any country is to NEVER EVER use a medical tourism company. It's nothing short of dangerous. For newbies new to serious weight loss OR if you want to research weight loss surgery types - my blog:

04-11-11, 02:47 PM #14Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
???!!! Do you have any mental disorders ??

The medical tourism company I chose is in Bolivia, right? So ask to the forum administrator from where I am posting (he/she can check it with my IP address) and you will see that I am not posting from Bolivia. No my dear I don’t work for MakeoverTravel, sorry to disappoint you!
…your behavior is very weird,, are you advertising Mexico for plastic surgery?
Please don’t talk like that about things you don’t know. Did you go there? Do you know them? Did you contact this company? Do you know the doctors they work with?
I have the feeling you took the opportunity to promote Mexico (or the surgeon you work with) by attacking in this forum. You don’t need to be such aggressive to promote your team!
Anyway I don’t want to start a controversy with you. But I can’t stand that people like you who tarnish the reputation of someone to push yourself forward. This is very unethical. You just give a bad image of yourself.
If you were such cultured about the medical system in the world, you would know that today many private clinics are equipped with Intensive Therapy Unit (IUT), so in case of “emergency” you don’t need to call “your super paramedics to move you to another hospital”,, nowadays most of the modern clinics have an IUT.
And I prefer a clinic that only treats plastic surgery patients because it’s an ideal environment to avoid any kind of contamination with patients with infections diseases. In a hospital we all know that in the operating rooms they mix healthy patients and patients with infectious diseases.
And to finish with your absurd reply... please get in touch with MakeoverTravel and after you will be able to give a subjective opinion. Before you make the reservation of your trip they send you all the details about the clinic where your surgery will be performed and this is obvious they have to send the name of the surgeons that will perform your surgery!!! Hello wake up!! When they send you this information you just have to check their name in the Bolivian plastic surgery association and in the Ibero Latin American Association (that is the most important plastic surgery association in the world) to check if they are legit and board certified surgeons or not. Easy no??
So before writing absurd comments please make a good investigation. The doctors that work with this company are not only board certified they are members of Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, and also member of the Bolivian Society of Plastic Surgery and member of the Ibero-Latin American Federation of Plastic Surgeons, and you can check it by yourself when the company send you the names of the surgeons that will perform your surgery.
All the clinics they work with have either Joint Commission Accreditation (JCI) or International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which signifies that they are internationally recognized in the field of healthcare.
And you know why MakeoverTravel is today one of the most trustworthy and reputable medical tourism company in the world???,, it’s because they don’t ask you pay any dollar before arriving in Bolivia. They don’t ask any dollar before checking by yourself that all they say is TRUE. You don’t pay any dollar before arriving at your hotel, before meeting dozen of patients who already have had their surgery with the same medical team; before your first consultation with surgeon, before checking the clinic where your surgery will be performed and the room where you will stay after your surgery,, and for people like you that could say “how could I be sure that the surgeon I met during my first consultation is the surgeon that will perform my surgery”… very easy, ask them they film your surgery!!!
In this conditions it’s difficult to be dishonest,, So now you can continue to spit out your venom but this is not necessary,,, you will not gain anything, when someone or is transparent and honest, you can tell what you want you will never manage to damage him.

Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
Well, if I am working for a surgeon I'm not doing a very good job of it. I have never mentioned names of any doctors. Or are you suggesting that I represent all surgeons for the entire country of Mexico? HA!
Sorry you are so offended by my post but I stand by it. I took the info from the actual website you wrote of.
It is what it is. And btw, most patient coordinators for various medical tourism places do not live in the country of the surgeon. When they are promoting doctors to US citizens they live in the US.For newbies new to serious weight loss OR if you want to research weight loss surgery types - my blog:

04-11-11, 04:37 PM #16Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !

OK everyone, let's keep this civilized please.
If you live outside of Bolivia, how could someone easily meet a patient who already had surgery performed clinic? Even if you could, it may not do any good because you don't even know if that's the same doctor that would do your surgery, since you mentioned that the patient doesn't pick the doctor, this clinic does. That's a bit scary?
Maybe the clinic doesn't take any money, but between non-refundable hotel, airfare back and forth, parking/taxi to/from the airport, babysitting costs, lost vacation time at work etc, that could be well over $1000 and a week of your time you'd have to spend just to meet someone who had surgery by the same medical team (assuming by team you mean the same doctor that does your surgery). Then if you don't like the results what are you supposed to do?
Yes the initial post appears it could be an ad, but possible appearance doesn't violate forum rules. Don't let one person get under your skin like this. You won't find a place that has as little advertising/marketers as this. If one gets by, it's not the end of the world. You do have the option not to read this topic, or better yet, to put them on ignore via your profile so you never have to see their posts again.
04-13-11, 08:03 PM #17Re: Cost Of Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) !
Well the cost of my abdominoplasty together with my lower body lift, was $17,000. Done locally, in a hospital by a reputable surgeon, after interviewing several surgeons and practices beforehand.
Then a few months later I had brachioplasty (arms), breast lift with implants. Same surgeon, $15,000.
For each surgery session, I was under general anesthesia for over 8 hours. My surgical team took their time and did an amazing job. Precision, skill and a good eye for balance and realism.
Compression garments: less than $100 bux.
Satisfaction: truly priceless.
I spent a lot more on my Mustang GT convertible a couple of years ago.
While driving that car is fun, it is NOTHING compared to traveling this world in this newfangled body.
