Just saw another obesity surgery TV show on Discovery Health which is available on HDTV. 12am PST here. Looks interesting.

Finally saw it yesterday. They re-ran "Half-Ton Man" again, too.

How were they? How do they compare to some of the other shows out there?

There wasn't really much talk about the actual surgery on the Woman show, other than she had it done and had some complications (surgery site infection, malnutrition). It was mainly about the difficulties super-morbid obesity can cause. She had a BMI of 103. :eek4:

Though I have seen Half-Ton Man before, I didn't watch it again and I can't really remember what all it was about.

Interesting. I would have thought they would have had more discussion on it since it should have such a big impact on her life. 103 BMI is pretty bad. :eek4:

Obviously if you didn't watch half-ton man again and you forgot what it was about, it probably wasn't very interesting.

103 holy moly!!! That's unfathomable! So I guess that 1200lb man from Mexico would have had a BMI close to 200?

Re: 627lb woman Discovery Healthy obesity surgery show

Whilst I have not seen the show about the woman I did see the man on T.V last year. My heart goes out to them. As someone super morbidly obese I can relate to them. It is difficult to live with that much weight to drag around. It really is amazing that us humans can get to that size.

I'm more curious about what the bodyfat percentage would be as compared to BMI. These people probably had about 100 to 125 lbs of muscle and the rest fat.
