| New Year's Resolutions EVERY year of my life my first resolution has been to lose weight. I worked my butt off to lose a total of 82 pounds and hit a plateau so what is #1 on my resolution list this year? You got it. Lose that last 35 pounds. I want this to be my last year making my weight the end all and be all of my life. How many things have you put off because you wanted to wait till you dropped so much weight or you were a certain size clothing before you did it? I have never been comfortable in my skin and can't believe that another year is coming and again, I still am not happy with myself. How many of you have made your weight loss your #1 resolution? How many of you have a new plan in place so "this time I will lose it"? I am going back to CURVES that is one thing for sure. I had abdominal surgery and couldn't for 6 months and I know that made a difference. Yes I ate things I hadn't been eating before when I was losing, but I also know that had I been working out, walking, riding the exercise bike.... something, I wouldn't be stuck where I am now. What I want to know is, who else is making their weight loss their number one resolution. What, if anything, have you resolved to do differently this time to lose that weight? Is anyone else here willing to come back weekly and report how their progress is coming along and where they feel they are succeeding and where the new plan is failing and why? I am desperate at this point, I would like support for my new years plan and would like to know what is working for other people. I know the basics, less food more exercise. If it was that easy I'd already be past my goal and looking like a movie star! Anyone?

| Re: New Year's Resolutions My new years resolution is definitely to put my weight behind me, as you were getting at. I just don't want that to be an issue in my life. I want to live healthy. and to do that i've gotta drop about 80 lbs! I'm hoping to be able to do it in 8 months, 10 lbs a month. I know it's not likely to happen exactly as planned, especially with my history of slipups, but it would be really nice to be 70 pounds lighter by my birthday! I haven't weighed less than 180 since 8th grade...that was 8 years ago! I got a lot of work to do But it's all about changing your life, not just what you're doing in the present.

| Re: New Year's Resolutions Well, I wish you a happy new year. I lost my first 80 pounds (20 in 2006 the rest this year) by giving up all kinds of flour, any kind of flour. You can still have oatmeal, cornmeal.... but if the word flour is in the ingredients you can not eat it. I didn't really notice the pounds melting off till they were gone. Now the husband is back from Iraq and I have whole wheat pasta, next day I have gained up to 2 pounds! I don't eat any flour for a day or two and I am back where I have been stuck for the last 4 months. Dr Gott has a no sugar no flour diet. I still ate small fries, a serving of chips with my meat rolls (like those wraps you get but no wrap just meat, cheese, lettuce and fire roasted peppers - which the dollar tree has been carrying). I know it works and I am back on it. Hard though. I make a Quiche with only 2 yolks all the other 16 eggs are whites but the crust is what kills me. I tear the edge off but the bottom is still there... and I like that part. I fill it with healthy stuff, fat free cheddar cheese, fresh spinach, stewed tomatoes, mushrooms, shredded turkey ham (all measured out mind you not just willy nilly) and healthy stuff. I could do worse I suppose but not the point. I KNOW what works damn it why is it that I can't keep doing it? Why is it that my number one resolution is about my weight yet again when I have come so far? June 2005 I weighed in at 262 pounds AFTER chemo!!! (steroids and lots of them) I ate what I wanted when I wanted as long as it 1. had NO flour of any kind 2. was under 10 grams of fat per serving. If it was more, I had it as a treat occasionally. 8 pounds a month is more realistic and that is being faithful to your diet and exercise. I know, I was shooting for 10 a month and was thrilled to get the 8. Sometimes I made it by having to do the circuit, drink a gallon of water and then bathroom like crazy and go back for my weigh in. THEN only making it by 10ths of a pound! I don't know if I will ever reach my goal, I should be thrilled with what I have done. But like I said, never having been happy in my skin I can only try to lose more weight and see if that does it. You are welcome to come and talk to me or privately email. I would love to have a buddy to go through this with. Know one thing is for certain, you can diet all you want, starve yourself, if you walk, ride a bike (stationary or outside) join a gym.... exercise is the magic trick. I HATE to exercise but I am going to so I can look the way I want to. I can wear a large now. I am not afraid chairs won't hold me or I won't fit anymore. I do compare always, to see if I am the biggest person in the room still though. I don't want that. I just want to be marginally acceptable and blend in the crowd. Never have. Good luck to you if I don't hear from you again.

Anyone? | I always have a plan to be very dedicated to the gym on a consistent basiss, but always fall short due to lack of time. I need to be better at making my health my number one priority as well.
I was going to suggest maybe starting a topic in the blog forum to track your progress as you go, as many people here do that and get a lot of positive feedback in their topics! I guarantee that if you start a thread, you'll get a lot of the support and guidance you're looking for.
