Study: TV crime dramas linked to obesity

I don't know what this proves, because aren't our obesity rates in the US about the same anyway?

Study: TV crime dramas linked to obesity

NEW YORK, NY, United States (UPI) -- A study by New York`s Simmons Market Research Bureau has linked people`s TV habits to their weight gain, and found many crime drama viewers are obese.

The study found that 35 percent of those who watch prime time TV crime dramas are obese, but provided no evidence to determine if the TV genre caused the weight gain or if the extra weight leads to watching such series, the New York Post reported.

The study used National Institutes of Health guidelines to determine prime TV real estate for weight loss product ads and found that certain TV shows were watched by viewers whose weight was proportional to their height.

The paper said those series included 'The O.C.,' 'Will & Grace,' 'Sex and the City,' 'Desperate Housewives,' 'Supernanny,' and 'Veronica Mars.'
