British health officials claim obesity in UK should be confronted with professionalism as a recent survey indicated Brits are Europe's fattest citizens.
Nearly 23 percent of British adults are obese, compared to 13 percent of Spanish adults. The top five fattest European nations also includes Germany with a percentage of 12.9pct and France, where nearly ten percent of adults have serious weight problems. Italy comes fifth, as 8.5 percent of the Peninsula's adult citizens are obese.
UK's heath minister, Caroline Flint fears that the situation will get worse, considering the fact that obesity among children is growing rapidly.
"The rapid increase in child and adult obesity over the past decade is storing up very serious health problems for the future. Parents are not always embracing healthy eating and active lifestyles, as they are perceived to be too challenging. We want to support parents to make them feel more able to make the changes that are needed to make a big difference to their own and their children's lives," said Caroline Flint.
Britain's Prime Minister, Tony Blair who took notice of the situation has shown his total concern to the nation's health. The politician advised Britons to exercise and eat healthy.
Figures indicated that less and less British people include fresh fruits and vegetables in their diets.
However, the British government is hoping to reduce the obesity rate under 11 percent by 2010.
