Hello!

I have become a member to this site because I am very interested in working with people who struggle with their weight. My bachelor's degree is in exercise science and I am pursuing a master's in Mental Health. My goal is to work with individuals who have experienced difficulty in their lives due to weight.

A project that I am working on is conducting interviews about weight discrimination and would like to know if anyone would be interested in participating. I live in South Florida (I am open to traveling if necessary) and will provide a $20 compensation for participating.

Besides $20, what benefits might participants in your survey receive? For example, will you share your results with participants?

You may want to post an email address too, welcome to the site! Maybe if you could also post a little more detail on how this research will benefit others who are obese? I'm sure if these information was going towards a good cause you might get more participants.

I am a bariatric physician who treats obesity similar to other chronic disease like diabetes and hypertension. One of the major differences, however,with this disease is the psychological, predjudicial and discriminatory aspects which can have a profound effect on the "quality" of life of overweight/obese people. As a result they become easy prey and vulnerable to the dietary supplement and commercial weight loss programs which often slim your wallet, not your waist. Good luck with your project.
