so whats the REAL deal with moobs

im about 6'2" 338 pounds... i have pretty much always had "man boobs" since i was little (im 20 now). my question is this, i know how sometimes it can be just natural part of a mans body, but they have always gotten bigger depending on my overall weight. im hoping they will go away when i lose weight, but they are much larger than the people i see with the same size belly or same weight as me. is this just how my body works, and they will go away once i slim down, or will i still have them even if i lose weight on my belly... that would be devestating, since i had mentioned that they are VERY large, larger than ive seen on a man my size. any tip or advice would be a help... im losing hope.

i couldnt say if they will go away or not, it is a possibility that you will still have them after losing the weight. If you do you could always have surgery to get them removed/reduced. I wouldnt stress over it until you've lost the weight you want to lose. Just focus on one thing at a time.

As Chrisy said I would try not to worry about them until you have lost the weight as it is difficult to say whether or not they will be a problem for you.

Re: so whats the REAL deal with moobs

You don't happen to use any bath/shower products that contain tea tree oil/lavender oil do you? They are known endocrine disrupters (they contain estrogenic compounds) and there was a case a few years ago in Colorado with adolescent boys developing enlarged breasts linked to a certain product but as soon as they stopped using those products they returned to normal. I'm not quite sure if it effects adults in the same way, but it might be worth trying if you do use products that contain any essential oil type substances.

NEJM -- Prepubertal Gynecomastia Linked to Lavender and Tea Tree Oils a link to a study that was done concerning tea tree and lavender essential oils.

But I would agree with the two posters above me. Just worry about losing the weight first and see if that helps out the problem.

You can be sure that they will shrink. They are made up partly of fat so as you lose fat, your will lose a lot of fat from your chest too. Like others have replied, there's no way to guess how much. You're going to definitely notice a huge improvement once you make it to your goal.
