| Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You Hi Everyone
The title kind of says it all I had to do something last year so I decided to go cold turkey and started my diet at 1200 calories a day. At the time I weighted 263 or so and I have no idea how many calories I was consuming a day. Like I said I had to do something so I jumped in head first. It was pure hell the first 2 weeks mainly because I love to cook and I love bread. The soda fix was bad enough but God intended me to eat bread.
Well I a had a Cardio, exercise and diet plan so I went to work. I knew I needed immediate results to give me the determination to stick with it. Within 2 weeks I could not only see the difference I could feel it. I was singing my own praises for the first month, then boom the hammer dropped. First my legs got sore, no I mean really sore, then one Friday I took my wife out to dinner, we had fish. It was a great evening we came home and went to bed around 1AM. By 3 I though I was going to die, my chest was on fire I was sweating profusely. I could not lay down I was scared I was having a heart attack. False alarm just indigestion, I was furious no one told me||| I had more incidents within the next few months because I did not know or had not considered the effects diet and exercise would have on my body. Lesson learned but maybe we save someone else from having the same problems if we tell our stories here?
Jimmy

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You Very interesting......I don't have cold turkey stories like that, although I did learn that squating heavy weights shortly after eating or having a carbonated beverage would make me feel like I was going to puke. Also, I learned too much caffeine right before exercise will make you feel like your heart is going to explode.

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You I actually used to have those indigestion bouts before I started eating right. I went cold turkey too and just started dieting and exercising at the same time and it fixed my stomach problems within a month.

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You same here I was diagnosed with GERD or acid reflux whatever you want to call it i changed my eating cold turkey stopped eating all the fried greasy fatty foods and the sweat sugary foods and went to eating fresh salads and veggies and grilled chicken and fish and within a month my GERD was completely gone! Now the only time i burp is if i drink a diet soda (which only happens every now and then and usually takes me 2-3 days to drink a 20oz bottle) or when i take the fish oil capsules...not sure why but they make me burp and it is gross...anyways what kind of foods were you eating when this happened to you?

Thats hilarious I hate those pills because you burp fish anyway diet alone may not help some obese people because the fat squeezes organs and things and forces stomach acid up in to your throat.

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You Same with me - I had terrible heartburn/acid reflux before I changed my ways. I used to drink Pepto Bismal out of the bottle. When I cut out all of the processed carbs, the heartburn went away. It's magic!

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You Thanks you guys seem to confirm we all have or had problems in the first stages of changing our life style. I've had most of the these things happen including forgetting to eat for 2 days. Its difficult to explain to people who have never had our problem but its a battle I'll have the rest of my life. Scary as it maybe it's not as bad as diabetes or diabetes, acid reflux and hypertension. My brother is over weight not obese but he has the big three and he takes so many pills he has to take other pills to control the side effects. He's at the lash out stage and it's easier to lash out than to reach out. I really appreciate the support and I hope I can help someone if only with a sympathetic ear

I've never had problems burping them up though. Strange.

| Re: Cold Turkey? Bad Things Happen Did they Happen to You I found it makes me shake, I drank a rockstar the other day and went to the driving range and I was gripping my clubs so tight that my forarms and wrists got really tired so I could barely hang on to my club by the time I was done, oh and it makes me sweat my ass off.
