Can psychology have an impact on obesity? One person's view, a resounding yes!

This came from a question I posed on another internet site, which was "Can psychology have an impact on obesity?" Here was an interesting answer from someone.....

Quote:
I grew up with an anorexic mom who just so happened to have two very fat sisters that were twins (hence her eating disorder).

Anyway, I can remember when I was about 11 (and pretty awkward as most 11 yr old girls) I was eating a snack and out of no where, my mom said, "I'm not going to have a fat kid!"

So, I started this cycle were I would hide and eat-- Its was crazy! I was such a fat ass in high school.

Anyway, recently I was having a glass of wine when my husband came home--he's a surgeon so he's generally an ass for a good hour until dinner. I noticed him looking at my glass like he was digusted (I found out later he was just jealous that I was in a good mood), so I started buying wine and drinking the whole bottle before he came home. Thank God I realized what I was doing.

My point here is behavior that leads to obesity has SEVERAL different/overlapping undertones. Most of which are derived from associations with comfort and inadequacies.

Then you have to think about the physiological effects of food (especially SUGAR) and the overabundance of fat cells that are continually screaming to be satisfied.
