| 40lb Weight loss..Questions about extra skin.
I am 17 years old and working on my conditioning for basketball. I currently weigh 220lbs and am 5' 11'' 1/2'' tall.
Will I have a terrible layer of loose skin on my abdominal region if I only loose 40 lbs to bring myself down to a healthy weight?

If you lose the weight slowly the skin should at your age gradually shrink with that loss. Good luck xxx

I was going to say I don't think it would be much of a problem at that age...oh to be young again.

I agree with the rest. If you tone, especially at your age, you are going to do fine. I had a cousin who is the same age as you are now, that was very very heavy, and had bypass. Honestly, he had no extra skin to be seen. He was a very lucky guy. As for myself, well, I have a bit, but am a bit older. lol I am very fortunate. No skin hangs one bit. I really feel for the people that do. With a little extra effort, you will be in 100% good physical condition in no time. Good Luck to ya. Buzz

After losing your weight your skin will shrink to fit your new body size. To help the process you can try skin firming soap and lotions.

Some of it is genetics, but yes at your age you should have no problems.

On other forums where people have gone from fat to muscular losing at or under 100lbs and younger than mid 20's they have no loose skin. However that is not the case as you get older, your skin won't shrink back as much as it once would and you're stuck with it. __________________

And yes, that other suggestion to work out will also help fill you out, substituting muscles in all areas. Good for you for being athletic too! New muscles will re-fill lost weight. Probably spontaneously.
Good luck!
