| lactose intolerance Yesterday, I ate 2 eggs & 2 slices of cheese for breakfast (for my protein), & 1 1/2 - 2 hrs later, I got such an upset stomach, that I broke out in a cold sweat, drenching my blouse, had loose bowels, (don't mean to be gross), & felt like I was going to vomit. Is that lactose intolerance? As an aside, I've always had a sensitive stomach, & I'm very sensitive to medications. |

Sharona, that is well beyond simple lactose intolerance for most people. However!
Lactose intolerance begins 30 minutes to 2 hours after consuming lactose.
Symptoms are: - Diarrhea (most common symptom)
- Nausea
- Abdominal cramps
- Bloating
- Gas
Symptoms are usually mild but may sometimes be severe.
Keep in mind that the flu and irritable bowel syndrome can cause similar symptoms as well.
Being that you broke out in a cold sweat, I would not think this was a case of lactose intolerance. Food poisoning maybe? Did you eat a bad egg or not cook it enough?

Sorry about your very upset stomach and other symptoms. I am lactose intolerant, and what you experienced seems worse than anything I have gone through. My guess is, you had a touch of food poisoning. The cold sweat and almost vomiting doesn't fit with lactose intolerance. I hope you threw away both the carton of eggs and the package of cheese. |

Sharona, I cannot fathom that this could have been lactose intolerance. I agree it's something else like food poisoning.

| Re: lactose intolerance Then how come no one else got sick, and the eggs and cheese weren't expired?
OD: Do you work full-time and go to school too? I never understood how people could have the stamina to do that. When do they eat? When do they sleep? When do they have a social life? |
