This Valentine's Day do your heart and loved ones a favor by tuning into
The Hidden Epidemic: Heart Disease In America, a PBS Health Campaign special on the number one killer of Americans, airing during National Heart Month on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 9pm ET on PBS. How can a seemingly healthy 44-year-old suddenly drop dead from a massive heart attack? His case is not unusual, as the 90-minute documentary explains. More than half of all people who die of heart disease succumb suddenly without warning—and the other half have the disease lurking in their bodies for many years before it strikes. There is no cure, but doctors are making remarkable discoveries about the disease: where it starts, how it occurs, and what that means for us. Program producer Elizabeth Arledge also produced
The Forgetting, the acclaimed PBS special about Alzheimer's disease. Following the documentary, Larry King of CNN's
Larry King Live and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation hosts
Take One Step for a Healthy Heart, a half-hour discussion featuring some of the country's top medical experts and physicians who present important strategies and practical tactics for improving the health of your heart.
The Hidden Epidemic: Heart Disease In America is produced by WGBH Boston for PBS and is written, directed and produced by Elizabeth Arledge. The executive producer is Laurie Donnelly.
