Hi im new

My names Phil and im 17 and since i got into computer gaming 2-3 years ago i have ditched all sports and going out (mostly cause i live in the middle of nowhere and the computer seems the easy solution)

I am about 5ft 9
weigh about 12 and a half stone (i dont look fat, and my friends always think the normal weight but untill they see my stomach...
im not a very confident person, find it hard to talk to girls and such and blush easily which leads to me getting hot and sweating (which makes me itch which affects my exercise alot) and i dont get bullied

I wake up at 7am and catch my bus to school at 7:40am and get into school at 8:40am i usually skip my breakfast only having a piece of toast and a cup o tea,
i eat mostly eat for lunch (microwaved burgers, chips and any other convenient food i can get sometimes i eat sandwiches depending on how easy the food is to get.

I leave school on the bus at 3:20pm and get home at 4:30pm through out the journey i feel tired and lazy.
I get home and i play my 360 or Pc when ever i can get on it...

Im not proud of what i do day in day out and i know if i carry on like this i will do harm to my body.

What i want to ask is what will happen if i carry on like this and could lack of exercise be affecting my appearance (i have baggy eyes) or my body? (i have body acke and i suffer from really bad itching when ever i sweat, going to see a specialist on the 15th December about it though, i feel like i have a lack of drive and sometimes feel depressed,
thats basically my daily routine and nothing much different on the weekend
would really appreciate some feedback and some advise

Thanks, Phil

My guess is your inactivity will lead to continuous weight gain, because you are consuming more calories each day than your body burns on it's own. Early on it won't cause a ton of healthy problems but as you get older you will start to notice numerous negative side affects from being overweight, such as joint/bone/ligament problems, difficulty breathing and sleeping, increased risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as a 50% overall increased risk in getting cancer of some sort.

How are your sleep patterns? That could affect your baggy eyes, but also in general people gain weight in their face differently which could also lead to a different facial appearance.

As far as advice goes, I would encourage you to get back into some exercise and limit your computer time. You have plenty of time for both. The computer time is also anti-social, and the more you're out socializing, the easier it will be to talk to people, including women. The additional exercise should help you lose some of the weight you've put on, which in turn will likely give you more confidence as whole, but espcially when chatting with the ladies!

In addition to exercise you may want to consider monitoring what you eat a little more closely, and we can help you with that. Your eating habits are a bigger contributor to your weight gain than the lack of exercise, and that is something that will take a little bit of change to your routine....but again, we can help you with all that, it's just a matter of learning how to control the calories you consume. I hope this helps!

Re: Hi im new

my weight has stayed at 12 and half stone for 1 year and hasnt moved a bit...
as far as sleep patterns go, i sleep walk and talk in my sleep

also me itching when i sweat (atleast i think thats what the problem is)
really puts me off doing exercise, the itching has been so bad i nearly passed out once
even when im not exercising it causes problems, like if i walk around school i easily become overheated... i dont know why it has allways been that way even when i was super fit, i tend to sweat more than other people

thanks for the advice ill take it on board but i really need to get my itching problem sorted before i exercise at all

Re: Hi im new

Have you tried powders and/or deodorants to help prevent the itching? Have you considered seeing a skin doctor about it?

Have you considered seeing a dermatologist? They can prescribe something a lot stronger than what's available in stores.
