| What sports did you play as a kid? Just curious to see what sports people played, and when they stopped.
In organized sports, I played soccer from when I was about 6 until I was about 12. I played baseball from 6-16. I played football from 12-20.
Recreationally, I rarely played soccer, except in college intramural sports. I still play pick up football to this day, and played organized or for fun from the time that I was about 8 until now. Basketball always played recreationally from the time I was about 10 until about now. Baseball has changed into softball which I play on rare occasions.

Sports as a kid; a bit of soccer a bit of baseball, a bit of football, a bit of something similar to tennis (but more dangerous ) and a lot of cycling (pedal and dirt bike) and a lot of tae kwon do. The tae kwon do and the biking continued until I was in my mid 20s and then a back injury but a stop to just about everything for a few years.

| Re: What sports did you play as a kid? I played lacrosse and soccer all my life. I also played some football and baseball as well. Lacrosse was certainly my sport of choice. I was awarded a scholarship for boh lacrosse and soccer.
Accepted neither, which is a long story in itself.
I still play lax and I also play in a competitive flag football league. |

I've hit a few roadblocks myself. Torn ACL, before that a torn meniscus, also had a torn tendon/bone repaired in my foot, and as of late have had some shoulder discomfort, and I think I need surgery on my big toe which I hurt playing football recently .
I'm falling apart at the seams.

I'm falling apart at the seams. | I fell apart at the seems years ago.... but with a little sewing you can get better
My apologies in advance but this is a rather long story, I will try and keep it short
This is all between 25 and 30
1st - I worked in a warehouse and I was one of the 3 biggest guys there so the three biggest were in a truck unloading to the rest of the guys on the ground (no dock available that day) there were 6 guys on the ground and as I said 3 in the truck. We were unloading a checkout counter that weight an awkward 500 lbs or greater and the other 2 in the truck thought the 6 on the ground had the load and the 6 on the ground thought the 3 of us had the load so the other 2 in the truck let go and I took the brunt of the weight to stop it from falling on the 6 on the ground. Out of work several months
2nd time – I was a mechanic and very stupidly, since I had no patients and the shop foreman was on me to get the engine in (the lift chain was locked in the box of the guy that went to Germany on vacation) lifted a 4cyl engine and again was out of work for several months
3rd time – Working in a hospital and helping (ironically my back doc) lift a rather large woman (300 lbs exactly – as I later found out) from an ambulance stretcher to an ER bed and he never gave me time to get ready and I helped unload 3 other ambulances that night. Ended in an ambulance myself the next day and I was in the hospital for a week and out of work for several months.
Then I got smarter when I turned 30 and went back to college couple of minor issues since then but nothing that caused me to be out more than a day or so and in the last 5 years I have been doing pretty good, except for additional weight gain on top of what was already there, so I will take it slow and careful and get the weight off because it sure isn’t helping.

A friend of mine went pro years ago years ago but on his way there he played with fractured ribs and he broke an ankle playing as well just to name a few of his soccer related injuries.

At the same time the marching band used to say that those who played football did so because they couldn't make the band.

Golf from 14 to 30.
Running/jogging weightlifting from 33 to 43.
From 33 to 43 I was in the best shape of my life. weighed 163#, could run 6 miles in lesss than 50 minutes.
I was a workout OC fanatic.
Could eat about 3500 cals a day and cover the +1300 by the energy expended in running and the gym.
I completely stopped physical activity but did not stop the caloric intake.
Bang!! 438# (well really it took several gradual years)

| Re: What sports did you play as a kid? Played basketball on the school team in 8th grade, and loved softball but never made the team. I played tennis occasionally, and still like to play--was even on a league for a while; but my knees can't handle it. I also took golf and swim lessons as a kid, but nothing really clicked with me there.
My friend tells me there are basketball leagues for women at the YMCA, so I plan to look into that. I'd also like to do water aerobics, so I'm checking out the programs available.
I'd like to play golf with my husband, but I'm not very good, and lose the ball a lot. So I need to practice--maybe join a league, before he "lets" me play with him. I'd like to do this as a family thing, because my two sons play golf, also.

I never play enough and never had a passion for it. I know some day that will change when I am not physically able to play other sports like basketball, football and baseball

| Re: What sports did you play as a kid? I played basketball all through HS, couldn't ever really play baseball much. As the kids have grown up I've had to learn how to play and coach baseball and football as well as wrestling. I wrestled my first competitive match at 39 years young...
I am thinking about fighting in 1 cage fight before 45 years old just to say I did it.
