For me I love doing Yoga. I love my accelerated yoga videos, they're great! It gets my heart rate up, helps with building muscle, and cardio! What are some things that you enjoy?

Walking out in nature! Every day I take the dog to a nearby field and walk down the path along the edge watching birds. It doesn't burn a ton of calories but it's active and fun. And every weekend my husband and I have been going on light hikes. Those are actually pretty good calorie burners because more rugged terrain gets your heart rate up and works the legs a bit more. I would like to find a circuit training place like Curves, except I want somewhere my husband is allowed to join me. I used to do Curves with my mom but moved recently and don't have a female workout partner yet. Oh, and I don't even have a VCR anymore but as a teen I used to like the Sweatin' to the Oldies videos! Very positive and motivating.

My favorite is playing sports. I've very competitive by nature which makes it even worse. I'd push over my own grandmother if it meant winning.

Sports for me to, if they had an "old guy sandlot sports leauge " I'd be there every day if it killed me. Which it probably would! LOL
Also the outdoors , tennis, hunting, stream fishing.
Of course I can no longer do these things at the level I would like to because of my eating.
I used to like to lift weights but I don't lose weight well while I'm doing it, because of the body's increased need for fluid. I wish it was cause at nearly 50 I was "bulking up" but no such luck! LOL
The main point is if I can find a hobby I like that I can still participate in, I'd do so for hours and wonder where the time went, rather than trying to get through 25 minutes on the eliptical

I used to enjoy martial arts too. Made purple belt but the committment and physical demands to get to brown were too much so I stopped.
The time committment wasn't there due to family responsibilities and I have no problem making that choice, but the physical piece was one more thing I couldn't do anymore due to my over eating.

My appetite also aghasted lots of people (if not disgusted), but the food got burned out quickly. I practise around 6 hours weekly, quite light...
Practise two different styles, one is more of Karate the other one is traditional Kunfu.
I guess having fun is the most important bit, just bit annoying when people(especially young attractive man) feel scared of me __________________

I have 2 dogs, so I walk a lot - hilly terrain too, so yeah, the old blood gets a pumpin.
I'm also a fan of DVD/FitTV workouts, I've got a couple of Pilates workouts I really enjoy and Power 90. Just push play....lol

My favorite exercise is going to Curves and also using the Wii Fit. I also like walking and hiking when the weather is nice.

I love my rugby practice! We alternate between cardio and technique days.
I like to go to the gym and use the elliptical machine as well- low impact on my knees, though it does burn less calories. The elliptical machines have little TVs on them, and i like to watch the History Channel as i try to keep my pace up.

My number one LOVE is RUNNING! I also like Bollywood Dance, the 30 Day Shred dvds, and I am also starting tennis.
I would like to do everything. Ten years ago I was into in-line skating. I would like to do that again as well as indoor rock climbing.

These are the kind of skates I skated with. I used these ones for the rink and I also had some to skate outdoors with, on the road or sidewalks.
I use to love to skate when I was younger but I busted up my right knee on skates and its never been the same. I still skated for awhile afterwards the knee surgery but It always got to hurting me afterwards so i just stopped it. http://
I began bowling on a bowling league and did that for years and still bowl occassionally now.
My best exercise I love is my swimming in our pool. I do some exercise with my elastic bands to.
I use to love to walk but now my knees hurt if I stand or walk to much anymore. I still walk some but now as far as ionce did. I am told now by my doc that I have arthritis bad in them and I get injections in them now to to stop some of the pain and am on arthritis medicatiopn now to.
Getting old is the pits, don't like it at all.......

| hiking and similar types of outdoor exercise
I like the fresh air, views, changing scenery, and the chance to jump in a mountain lake and get refreshed. During the summer it's hiking and in the winter it's cross country skiing and snow shoeing. One of the great things about these activities is you're easily out there 3-5 hours burning a bunch of calories and helping your cardio system. A half day out there is worth a whole week at the gym where I might keep myself on a machine for a half hour. I get bored and feel trapped on the machines in the gym, although I do that as much as I can get myself to because the mountains are a half day to full day commitment and only happen a couple times a month.

I would love to go stream fishing. Most our fishing is on a boat in the Gulf of Mexico or in our rivers we have here in our city.
GoneFishin, I do not think anyone is going to laugh at you at all. I wish I could go stream fishing with ya. Sounds like alike of fun and and exercise in one to me.

It'll week out the weak wussy ones. Then again if he doesn't comply you can smack him around when needed and get your way. Quote:

It was a great core workout just to hold your spot as the water rushed and hit you from behind.

For me it is weight training. I've been doing it for 20 years. It burns calories, builds muscle, and makes me feel great.

Never tried Yoga. I stick with my swiming and using the elastic bands. mostly.
Maybe when my knees get better I may try to skate again.
