| Suggest an exercise plan
For a mid 50's women with firbomyalgia, who is on the edge of obesity.
I am trying to help my mom overcome a lifelong struggle with overweight, the comlication is she has fibromyalgia and joint problems. I have suggested walking which helps, but what else can she do to get to a healty weight?

My mom is in her mid 50's, and does deep water workouts. She says you get quite a bit of exercise, but you don't get all gross and sweaty because you're in the water.
(I think she likes that she gets to go in the hot tub after too )

Swimming or something like gymnastics in the water would probably be the best. She might also try something like yoga or pilates. Unfortunately I don't have so much information about yoga or pilates but maybe you could get some information about it in he internet. Well just tell her about all the different kind of sports (posted in this thread) which she might do. I am sure that is something she likes!

The elliptical machine has the least impact of all the lower body cardio exercises that I've seen, and if lower body isn't possible, then hand bikes (where you sit down and pedal with your hands) is a good option as well.
Walking of course as you suggested is a great idea. What about lifting light weights as well?

Good old row machine will kick your butt every time and has zero impact! Full body exercise right there!
