| Looking at buying a treadmill I'm wanting to buy a treadmill. I dont like staying after work to workout in the fitness room cause I dont get off work till 9:30 pm and then I still have a 30 min drive home. And I wont work out before work because I wont use the shower here. Not much privacy. So I wanna be able to get up in the mornings and hop on my own treadmill. I dont want to spend much more than $500. Anyone have any ideas of a good one? I want one that does the incline automatically and that can handle my weight also one that folds up out of the way would be great too.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill I bought a treadmill 2 weeks ago. It was the best thing I did because I also don't like going to the gym (I don't feel comfortable) and now every day when I get home from work, I hop onto it and walk for 40min. The only thing I can´t tell you is which one to buy... Google it and see what you can find. I'm from Portugal, so I really don't know... The one I bought has the automatic inclination, has a bodyfat program, has 18 automatic programs, etc., etc., etc., and it folds up and everything. It cost 625 € (about 920 $).
This is a photo of the exact model I bought.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill Take a look at the Schwinn Aerodyne bike as an alternative, you can get a much higher cardio workout and it works the full body. You can also find them fairly inexpensive on craigslist.org

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill My boyfriend thing thinks that a recumbent stationary bike might be better for me than a treadmill because of the problems that i've had with my knees. I'm wondering if he is right. Now I'm confused as to what to get.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill I thought about getting a home treadmill myself... one thing that concerned me was there were no real specs listed for how much power it uses? I mean if it's gonna suck like 30 bucks a month you might as well get a gym membership. Or get a bike like Mike suggested. Not trying to discourage just curious as to the power usage.
Even ellipticals are great and don't impact the joints as much. With the damaged I had done to my ankle years ago running really isn't my friend so I stick to the bike, swim, elliptical route.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill I've tried the elliptical but it actually hurts my knees only thing i can figure is that because my feet turn out a little when i walk and the elliptical forces my feet straight because of the way the pedals are...i dont know but after about 5 min my knees hurt so bad i wanna cry not sure if i should keep trying it and push through the pain or not....i use the treadmill at work in the fitness center there and have little to no pain in my knees that is why i was going to get the treadmill but my bf thinks that a bike might be better plus he says he would be more likely to use the bike than the treadmill. i found a bike i like for about 300 less than the treadmill
Its only $195 or there is one he likes for $298 has less features but he thinks the seat looks more comfortable
this is the one i like Gold's Gym Power Spin 230 Recumbent Bike- Comfortable recumbent frame makes it easier to get on and off

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill The reason why I suggested the bike I did is that as you grow in strength and power the electric bikes can't. The one I showed you works with air resistance, the harder you push the harder it pushes back. You can use your hands and legs to work and it's awesome for High Intensity Interval Training HIIT which is the BEST way to lose fat and only 20 minutes a day required.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill Electric bike? Don't most have a weighted wheel of some sort? What about the spinning kind you see at the gym?
I remember HIT training from back in the day. I gained a great deal of my strength from those training sessions. Can't say it did much for stamina though.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill HIIT = the same as a sprinter's workout - sprint, jog, sprint, jog etc. I know I've gained massive amounts of stamina from these exercises. It's to the point now where I can wrestle in with 3 or 4 guys w/o rotating in for 10 to 15 minutes w/o getting gassed.

| Re: Looking at buying a treadmill I wasn't trying to say it didn't improve but I was already in pretty damn good shape then. I meant like long distance running or boxing... But that's excellent. I've never wrestled so not sure what all is involved.
I was always more of the bicyclist doing 100+ mile rides and did my strength training in the gym.
