WTH? | You are forgetting the fact that someone your size burns about 1500 calories a day naturally just from sitting on your butt and doing nothing. Add in 260 calories that you burn from exercise, and viola, your body just burned about 1760 calories today.
If you only consumed 900, that's an 860 calorie deficit.

It's not exactly 1500, that's just a rough ballpark. There's a formula you can use to calculate exactly how many calories a day you burn. Quote: | Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years) This will calculate your basal metabolic rate. To find your maintenance level (break-even), you must multiply your BMR by an activity factor. These can be found here: - If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
- If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
- If you are moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
- If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
- If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

| Re: How in the world?? calories and working out Just remember her LBM is actually 89lbs which helps to compute that more correctly.
Putting in her 125lbs and looking to lose 2lbs a week I come up with:
CALORIES CALCULATOR
Weight: 125
Gender: F
Body Fat: 28 to 38
Daily Activity: Moderate
How Much Weight Do You Want To Lose Per Week? 2
BMR
You normally use 1822 calories per day.
Diet:
You should switch to 822 calories per day.
BUT that's a general calculator. My metabolism indicate I should be eating 2933 calories per day but I can't eat over 2K w/o gaining weight even with my high output

Mike, I do not believe that the formula above is meant to be used with lean body mass.
I came up with BMR of 1351.43. BMR is determined before factoring in her activity level.
Here are the calories she burns each day that I came up with based on the amount she exercises/activity level: Calories Burned a day factoring activity 1621.717 1. sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2 1858.217 2. If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375 2094.718 3. If you are moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55 2331.218 4. If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725 2567.719 5. If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9 I highlighted the middle one in red because I believe that's her activity level from what she's posted. So if she's shooting to lose 2lbs a week, I got 2095 calories-1000 deficit a day = 1095 calories a day she can eat and still lose 2lbs a week.

| Re: How in the world?? calories and working out Good lord I could not imagine eating that much. I have tried eating around 1000 or less. Some days are easier than others. Like yesterday not feeling well I hit around 850 or so for the day.

| Re: How in the world?? calories and working out I didn't use her LBM so much as knowing what her body fat percentage was to calculate more accurately. Fat takes zero calories to maintain so the true BMR would come from an LBM standpoint.
