| Re: Do you walk everyday? Well lets see. Mostly procrastination and weird work schedule. Worked till 1AM Friday night, left for work at 7AM, worked till 7PM Saturday, had dinner, drove back to Marina, did some work in the room, went to bed about 11PM, got up at 7:30AM to be at work by 9AM. Worked till 6PM came back to Marina, had a quick bite and just got back to the room. Will be to tired to do much tomorrow. Will work in room for 5 or 6 hours. Probably a meeting and prep for said meeting on Tuesday.
Will go into Monterey Tuesday night for dinner and Carmel on Wednsday, and moving up to Novato on Thursday, starting 2 more jobs on Friday, and so on, and so on. |

A while back I was stuck working from 8am-10/11pm Monday through Friday....and this was for over 2 months. I ended up going to the gym every night for two hours until 1:30am or so, because I was dead set on losing about 15lbs in a 2 month period. It was tough but in the end I accompished my goal and felt very good about myself for dedicating myself.

| Re: Do you walk everyday? I myself walk 6 days a week on the treadmill at my gym. At times, it can be an inconvenience but I think dedication and discipline is what really makes a difference. In a period of a month and a half my bodyfat percentage has decreased by 3 points. |

I've found that walking is helpful as well. I was able to walk for about 30 minutes every day for a 6 month period, with that being the only change in my life. I lost 25lbs and had a lot more energy during that time period.

Seriously though... When you have a family, its harder to fit everything into one day.
Spend time with family
work
house chores
more work
bills.
eat
and yet somehow I still think sleeping is a waste of time... much more walking or exercising.
I do know that I have to get on it pretty soon or I'm probably going to get sick and other things. |

| I completely agree. It's something you have to make into a priority. Walking/exercise can be spending time with your family. Regardless, spending a little less time with your family now to get in better shape could mean you'll have an extra 5-10 years to spend with them later on down the road assuming the exercising will allow you to live longer.

| Re: Do you walk everyday? I`m not able to walk as a way of exercise, due to herniated lumbar disks, but use a life fitness elliptical 4-5 times per week, 45 minutes per day at about 60-70% of my maximum heart rate. The equivalent distance is about 4 miles.
I think the elliptical change my life, it`s very easy on the joints and you can improve the fitness level. In seven months I have lose 1 or 2 pounds but my waist is now 2" smaller and muy fitness level, according to my polar heart monitor has improved from poor to good and I`m abour to reach the excellent stage. |

It is by far the easiest on the body of all cardio machines I have ever used.
I bet that the reason you have lost only 1-2 pounds but lost 2 inches was because in addition to shedding some fat (causing the waist shrinkage), you have put on some muscle from the exercise, and of course muscle weighs more than fat.
You are definitely on the right track, keep it up!
How long have you been dealing with herniated discs in your back? Sounds painful.

That must be tough!!! I bet as you keep adding muscle and shedding fat, you will notice some of your back pain slowly subside. Elliptical machines are great and are what I use myself. Like Obesity Discussion said, you have probably added muscle while you shed fat, so you won't see a loss in pounds so much as inches.
Welcome to the site tbolt!

| Re: Do you walk everyday? Tbolt I understand exactly how you feel as I have two fused vertebrae. It still is fairly painful and I have to be careful what I do. I have a very hard time exercising without pain. Even walking for too long hurts. I may have to look into this eliptical thing yall keep talking about. I am not sure if it is meant for someone my age

| Re: Do you walk everyday? I find that when I don't have time to go for my walk or run, I increase the intensity of the every day walking I do. I simply walk a little faster to get to where I'm going and take stairs as much as possible. It might not add much, but it's better than nothing.
I also find that you can save time from your walks by increasing intensity. You don't have to necessarily run to get a quicker cardio workout in. Simply walk up hill, up stairs, with weights, faster, etc. The more energy you use per step, the less time it will take you to get the same burn. |
