What am I getting more out of?

I've been switching up my cardio regime at the gym lately, and I've starting using the stairmaster, and joggin more, as opposed to just the eliptical and fast walking.

I've found that when I'm on the stairmaster, I don't burn as many calories (according to the display) as I do when I'm on the eliptical during the same amount of time. But I sweat way more (sorry to gross you out) and my breathing and heart rate are faster.

I feel like I'm getting more out of the stairmaster because I feel like I've done more work, but according to the machine for calories burned, I haven't.

Is this just that the workout machine isn't calculating my calorie burning correctly, or am I not getting a better workout from certain cardio that just makes me tired.

It is great to switch things up, not just because it makes you use other muscles and hits them in a different way, but it keeps you from getting bored! If your heart rate is up, you're burning calories, trust me. As long as your heart rate is up there, I wouldn't worry about the number on the machine. It's not fair to compare one machine to the next caloriewise IMO.
