Who'd have thunk it, but could obesity cause gum disease? The study into gum disease cause at the Harvard School of Health evaluated more than 30,000 men who had no signs of gum disease for over 15 years going into the evaluation.
Those who were obese were 29% more likely to get gum disease. Is the cause of the gum disease obesity? While no direct causal relationship was identified, doctors thought possibly that gum inflammation and inflammation throughout the body are linked to one another.
These findings were to be given at the International Association for Dental Research general session yesterday in Miami.
