| Re: Calorie Reduction by chewing food slower? That is essentially what I have been doing for the first five bites. Not so much the slower chewing (I don't want to look like a cow), but a delay between bites. The first five bites are in 2 minute intervals, so I do chew more thoroughly, but not necessarily slower.
That, combined with the Metamucil 15 minutes before the meal, and my "full" message to the brain and my "not deprived" message to the brain get there while I am still under 300 calories per meal. I will go over sometimes, under other times, but the net result is a 1000 calorie average without feeling like I am dieting.
So, I would clarify that it is not just chewing more slowly, but taking the time to savor each bite of food. The brain will see one slow bite and two quick bites as one bite, but the calories of one slow bite are less.
It makes mathematical sense, and as long as the tummy and brain are happy, it works.

So, I was told that I was 100 pounds overweight. My two kids combined didn't weigh 100 pounds. So, I dropped EVERYTHING from my mouth except for the basics, and ate slower, and 40 of the 100 is gone! And I did it without paying for some "program", just the classic cutting calories method. Sometimes, the simplest way is the best way.
