| Re: slimquick? Interesting review.....claims it's worthless. Regardless, every diet pill will tell you that you will receive the full benefit when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.....so hopefully you're at least doing both! Quote: SlimQuick (Slim Quick) Fat Burner Review Touted as the world's first and most advanced fat burner designed specifically for the woman's body, SlimQuick claims to be "scientifically engineered" to help women "overcome the physiological and hormonal barriers" of losing fat.
Apparently, Slim Quick's 6 "exclusive complexes" are backed by science, and are "aimed at supporting fat loss through separate mechanisms."
Yeah, OK.
If you sensed a little sarcasm in the first two paragraphs of this review, you're right on the money. SlimQuick has a lot more to do with hype and advertising to a specific market segment than real science and ground-breaking, fat burning technology.
Scientifically engineered, my butt.
Success is likely to be as a result of the diet and exercise program that accompanies the product, and not the product itself. Truly, most elements of the compilation contain relatively small amounts of ingredient, hidden behind a proprietary blend label that makes assessing efficiency very difficult.
Sure, several of the complexes do contain ingredients focused on the specific needs of women, but they are either...- too weak to accomplish much
- useless for fat burning
Let's take a closer look at the compilation, to see if there's any justification behind the hype... 1) Vitamin & mineral blend: we all know that vitamins and minerals are important for optimal health. That's true for men, women, and children. While it's not a bad thing that SlimQuick contains vitamins a blend of B vitamins and calcium, rest assured these won't do any more for spurring on additional weight loss than your typical drug store vitamin. When was the last time you lost weight taking them? 2) Nutratherm Thermogenic Complex: comprised of...- green tea extract (green tea is a quality fat burning ingredient reviewed in full here!)
- caffeine
- cocoa bean and yerba mate extracts (both of which contain more caffeine and other xanthines)
- clary sage (most commonly used for digestive disorders)
Nothing out of the ordinary here. However, in the correct dosages, the combination of green tea and caffeine can have additional benefits for weight loss (Obes Res. 2005 Jul; 13(7): 1195-204). Keep in mind that this combination of green tea, caffeine and xanthines can make you extremely (even unpleasantly) jittery. 3) Estrogen Hormone Blancing Complex: 55 mg of active ingredient comprised of...- soy isoflavones
- vitex agnus-castex (more commonly known as chasteberry).
Both of these ingredients have been proved helpful for women.
Chasteberry (reviewed here) may be ineffective in combating some of the symptoms of PMS (breast pain, irritability, depression). According to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, chasteberry may not be as effective in combating PMS symptoms such as "cravings for sweets." That's important to know in the case of Slim Quick. The required dose depends on the largely on the formulation of the chasteberry, and there's no way to determine that here.
There is also some evidence that soy isoflavones may help reduce hot flashes related to menopause. Some experts surmise they may also protect against breast cancer, although that is somewhat disputed. 4) Cortifem: Comprised of...
Beta-sisterol: at high doses (much higher than included in the SlimQuick formulation) beta-sisterol can reduce LDL cholesterol (that's the "bad" cholesterol -- without effecting the beneficial HDL cholesterol.
Rhodiola Rosea root extract: an adaptogen liike ginseng, this may help mental focus as well as energy and stamina.
Theanine: the major amino acid found in green tea, helpful for relaxation.
Unfortunately, this element of the product compilation only contains 50 mg of product -- which means it accounts for little more than "label decoration." There's simply not enough ingredient here to have much effect. 5) Aquaplex Water Removal Complex: A 40 mg blend of diuretic herbs which may lead to lower body weight by encourging your body to get rid of excess body water. Includes...
Dandelion leaf and root (reviewed here) , horse tail, Uva Ursi extract , and French maritime pine extract. All these ingredients have merit as diuretics, but once again the problem is there actually very little active ingredient in this element of the complex. 6) Xtend Absorption Complex: 15mg of cellulose ethers and Piper nigum -- the purpose of which is to increase the length of time and the efficiency with which the ingredients work within the body.
Bottom line on the SlimQuick fat burner for women?
No clinical data validates any of the product claims, although the diet plan itself will more than enough to enocourage significant weight loss in many individuals. The product itself is high on hype, and short on proof. To top that off, there is actually very little active ingredient in most of the various complexes.

| Re: slimquick? yeah she has but she has never stuck to it. she actually had lost about 50-60 lbs about 5 yrs ago by walking and eating less but now she is disabled and unable to do the walking. she has cut out alot of carbs and sugars and is eating less. i know that will cause some weight loss. but worry that she wont stick to it if she doesnt see results. she gets discouraged easily
