Anyone Taking Alli?

Is anyone here taking Alli? I've thought about taking it, but I'm curious about the side effects.

Re: Anyone Taking Alli?

Hey LuLu.

I am currently taking it. I am using it in addition to using most of the advice from Weight Watchers. The two combined are a very good strategy in my opinion. As to the side effects, if you are careful about what you are eating you will most likely not experience the really yucky ones. I find the extra long mini pads are a good thing to wear just in case. Also, Scrubbing Bubbles and toilet brush in your most frequented bathroom are must haves. Sorry, but it had to be said.

You are supposed to take one pill with each meal--no more than three per day. I was on it several years ago when it was the Rx--Xenical. My dosage was higher so I take five pills a day rather than just three.

I noticed that you and I are close to the same BMI and weight. I am at 193 and my BMI is 29 now. It is great to be out of the 30+ category. I have lost 23 pounds now or so and have recently started real exercising rather than just being active. I have been on this new lifestyle about three months now.

Some will argue that Alli isn't a long-term fix. In my mind it is. When I need it, I use it. I plan to cut back on it as my weight goes down and hopefully by then, I will be leaner and have more muscle as I exercise. But, if I find my weight creeping up, I will likely increase dosage again. It will only work if you cut your calories and exercise. Otherwise, it's pretty useless. It will give you a bit of an edge on losing. If you lose ten pounds on your own, you will lose 14 or so with Alli.

What are you doing?

Re: Anyone Taking Alli?

I've cut down my portion sizes and tried to avoid the junk food. I also walk at least 1 mile everyday.

Re: Anyone Taking Alli?

I am using Alli with every meal. I have not experience side effects. The only thing I see when I go to the bathroom is something oily. So far I'm satisfied with the results... is not magic, but helps in the process.

Good luck to you.

Diet pills should be banned.

Re: Anyone Taking Alli?

178.5 on scale today after working out. (Began at 216) My BMI is now at about 27. I am down to only two Alli's now each day. With the food I am eating I don't need to take them with my snacks or breakfast. I have continued to lose even with decreased dosage.

Re: Anyone Taking Alli?

Here's a great tip for alli users: Remember to keep away from all the greasy foods as this cause more bathroom problems with the Alli pill. Go for the very lean meats instead such as marinated skinless grilled chicken breasts, or a small 6 oz. fillet mignon and pair these meats only with raw salads or sliced fresh steak tomato, lightly steamed green beans etc. as with any diet pill drink lots of water and be sure to take a multi vitamin supplement as many diet pills are not only diuretic in nature , they often block vitamins from being absorbed properly. Think of your diet pill only as a tool to get you back on tract and help motivate you back to good healthy whole foods eating!
