Question safe snacks?

ok im brand new here on my journey and im wondering as a beginner what are some safe snaking solutions for a girl who used to consume a 12pk a nite and eat an entire pizza b4 bed..and by bed i mean 4am. i mean im ready to lose...ive given up drinking except for one nite a week (the nite i bartend...so im burning cals too), try to walk around the parks lake each day(its one mile around...4x=4 miles), and literally used to eat outback steakhouse food everyday for 9 years..and now im watching hardcore what im eating...but still need help deciphering between what is acceptable to eat and what is not at certain times. i like the 5small meals idea..so i ask..what are some safe snaking options...cuz the stick of pepperoni isnt gonna fly anymore.

Wait, you used to drink a 12 pack of beer and a pizza every night before going to bed at 4am?

Sleep helps, a lot. Getting less than 8hrs sleep prevents you from being as thin as you could be. Get rid of the fast food and eating out period. All very unhealthy. As far as snack foods that can be good for you......

fruit
veggies
a few nuts (not too many)
Sunflower seeds (not too many)
light string cheese sticks
protein bar
protein shake
chicken/turkey/beef jerky (not too much because of sodium)
any small meal- I eat those 250 calorie south beach diet lunch boxes
smoked salmon
tuna in a can

It's late and that's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I know there's a lot more I'm forgetting.

I love the little source yogurts.

They're only 50 calories, no fat, and yummy! They come in a variety of flavours

Re: safe snacks?

Like Matt said, nuts such as Almonds, Walnuts and Sunflower seeds (in moderation).

I like a nice dried fruit combination along w/ some low-fat granola. As far as veggies go, you can mix it up w/ some celery sticks w/ reduced fat peanut better (again, in moderation). I also like baby carrots and mushrooms (actually, I LOVE mushrooms - which are also good for your skin).

If you like bread, eat bread that is whole grain and higher in dietary fiber.

My appetite is now aroused.

Re: safe snacks?

You can definitely keep on eating yogurt if you like it so much. Especially in the evening. You shouldn't eat so much bread in the evening, because bread has lots of carbohydrates. You have to eat carbohydrates during the day when you need lots of energy. But yogurt is great in the evening, because yogurt has lots proteins which increase the burning of fat.

You gotta be careful though some yogurt does have a ton of sugar in it too and sugar = carbohydrates.

Re: safe snacks?

Yeah that's right. But actually I think there isn't a big difference concerning the taste. So it doesn't matter to eat only light or fat free yogurts instead or regular yogurts. Just go to the store and read the information about the ingredients. And then take the yogurts which are low on carbohydrates only.
