| Fruit/vegetable juice? Hi all,
I bought a book which recommends drinking homemade fruit and vegetable juices. It says that there are a lot of health benefits from replacing meals with fresh juices, as you get many vitamins and minerals. It suggests that weight loss, improved energy levels, and improved skin, hair and nails, may result from going on a juice diet.
I'm not really sure if juicing is the way to go. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Has anyone tried/recommend drinking fresh juices to aid weight loss? |

| Re: Fruit/vegetable juice? I think that throwing a bunch of fruits/veg into a blender and making smoothies (just add a little plain yogurt, ice and a tsp of honey, if you need more sweetness) is better than juicing.
When you juice something, don't you strain out the fibre and stuff? With blenders you get everything you put in, in liquid form.
it's a great way to get your servings in, but i wouldn't recommend replacing all of your meals for it.
your brain needs complex carbs (not found in fruits) that are mostly found in grains....and you need the protein from meat. it just doesnt seem healthy do go on a liquid diet.

| Re: Fruit/vegetable juice? i like putting fruits and veggies in a blender rather than juicing mainly because of the pulp, it's more filling, same great taste.

We use Crystal Light, which has the same vitamins minus the equivalent of many teaspoons of sugar. (Why do you think it tastes so good?)
You get plenty of vitamins from the vitamin pills you take. America has the most vitamin-enriched sewage system in the word.

| Re: Fruit/vegetable juice? Fruit juice is full of acids and sugar so not that good for you in big quantities. I get fruits that I like, like banana, mango, melon, strawberry etc and mash them up in the blender then pop them in an ice cube tray. Pop it in the freezer and then you can either just add water to them in the blender or fruit juice when you fancy a smoothie! xxx
