| Feel like I was Bad Today well today for breakfast I did good and had a cup of oatmeal with a banana sliced up in it, and then about 2 hours later ate an orange. I then went bike riding for an hour and a half and decided I wanted sushi for lunch since I rode for that long, after I ate what I had gotten for lunch, I looked up how many calories are in the sushi rolls I got and ouch, wish I would have chosen something different. It ends up totaling to around 1,000 calories just for lunch! so my question is, what should I have for dinner that will make me feel better about myself after that mistake?

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today first off, stop beating yourself up over one meal.
second, you can shose to skip dinner to compensate
or even better than that, if you had only intended a 500 calorie lunch, then consider to average this excess 500 calories over a full week of food intake and just reduce your daily calories like 50 for 10 days as compensation.
or even better yet, don't worry about 1 meal. look at the long term here and not the short term bumps you encounter.

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today Where's the protein? Your body can't maintain lean muscle mass without taking in at least 1g of protein per lb. I'd add some eggs & egg white for breakfast with the oatmeal, some almonds with the orange (or instead of). Skip sushi and get sashimi...

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today I would go with a chef salad. Some ham or turkey, cheese, and all the veggies you like. You can make a HUGE salad for not many calories. And the meat and cheese add some protein so you'll stay fuller longer.
Don't beat yourself up over one meal. We all deserve a meal we WANT once in awhile. .gif)

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today "...decided I wanted..." Try to avoid making any kind of impulsive decision, it's something we all do, to our regret. Second, 1,000 calories is okay. Don't beat yourself up. Have something that's four or five hundred calories, that makes 1500 in all -- terrific. You've had an active day, and you've taught yourself about impulsive actions.
Now if I could only manage that too... *Grin, har.*

I had 25 pieces last night when I went out.....just so expensive. Its' sooo much cheaper though getting sushi grade Tuna/Salmon etc. from upscale grocers like Whole Foods and AJs.
Manda, don't beat yourself up too bad.....you don't have to make it all up at once....you can make it up over a few days if need be.

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today How about a portabello mushroom burger on low carb or low cal bread with a portion or your favorite raw or cooked veggies on the side, and some sugar free jello for dessert? Don't let one mistake take away your momentum. Forget it and get back on track. Take it a day at a time. One bad meal or day doesn't have to ruin the next meal or day. You have a great start towards reaching your goal, just put one foot in front of the other...you can do this. |

| Re: Feel like I was Bad Today I feel like I need to exercise really, really bad today as well. I went to a friends wedding yesterday and could not resist getting a strawberry covered in dark chocolate (at least it wasn't milk chocolate!) from her chocolate fountain. Boy that was yummy. And I had to have a piece of one of the cakes. Oh and like 4 glasses of wine! But I've been trying to cut back a little on calories all week because I knew that would happen

of course, if you want to have the cake, then have the cake. but trying "not to have the cake" at the same time as telling yourself "i knew this would happen" is only going to result in the fullfillment of your doubts.
so you had the cake.... consider averaging your food intake over a full week and look at your calories injested over that timeframe instead of just a one-day hit. if you're expending more than you take in over a week, a one day glich isn't going to hurt you... unless you let it via how you internalize your feelings and thoughts over "how bad" you were.
you have the power.
just say no.
