| DRUM ROLL PLEASE DRUM ROLL PLEASE...I have avoided for the scale for 2 weeks now, weighed myself yesterday and am down 9 lbs!!!!! WOW! I have always approached weight loss by exercise and not really paying much attention to calories, and have always failed - so I've switched things up and am now counting calories (not starving myself) - just keeping a log on my PC and refering to it after meals so that I know what I have left for the rest of the day.(People, we eat WAY TOO MUCH FOOD IN OUR SOCIETY) I'm eating much healthier - lean meats, salmon, tuna, fresh veggies, I even treated myself to chocolate ice cream (1/4 cup=65 calories), my crazy food cravings are GONE!, I feel like I have 3 times the energy I did just 2 weeks ago, my skin looks and feels better - I could go on and on. This is the way to go, simple science - calories in vs. calories out. If you have a daily deficit, the weight WILL COME OFF!

How how how how!!!! I'm so happy to hear that counting calories is working well for you!!! Another testament to counting calories!
So what calorie level have you been settling on? How much extra time a day do you spend counting calories? The one complaint I hear most from people who aren't willing to count calories is they don't think they have the time.

| Re: DRUM ROLL PLEASE My average is between 1200 - 1300 cal/day. The first few days I was at about 1100 and from the reading I've done and how my body was feeling - I know that was too low. When I bumped it up to the 1200-1300 range I instantly felt stronger and was not experiencing hunger so I think this is a good range for me. I spend about 15 mins. a day tops on counting. Because I work fulltime, I make my lunch the night before so I enter the cals I'll be eating for breakfast and lunch the evening before. I think the key to counting is that if you make any changes in lifestyle, you have to sit down and recalculate your base level - like I'm only walking now but when I start doing more strenuous exercise I will definitely have to take in more cals.

| Re: DRUM ROLL PLEASE Awesome, and you dead on about making changes as you go. I don't think 15 minutes is too much for anyone trying to take control of their health. Good for you, I think you really have this down pat! Please keep us updated on the progress!
