Gym Gym Revolution
West Virginia took one giant dance step for physical fitness last week when it announced plans to fight obesity in schoolchildren by adding the video game Dance Dance Revolution to its official physical fitness curriculum.
The game, known as DDR among the obsessed and usually found in arcades or on home video players — keeps users hopping around on a special dance mat, in time to popular songs. It can produce quite a sweat. But like any bold educational initiative education — and anything at all having to do with video games — the West Virginia plan set off an immediate reaction online.
