| Friend's kid I have a friend whose kid is over weight. She is 7 yrs old and maybe 3 feet tall and weight about 80-90 lbs. I worry about her being so over weight already. I've talked to my friend about his daughter's weight but i cant seem to get him to realize what he is doing to her by feeding her all the fried foods and fast foods that he is. He eats the same things and isnt over weight but he also has a very physical job. Only time she gets any exercise is at my house or at school. I dont know how to convince him that he needs to change her diet. Any one have any suggestions?

| Re: Friend's kid Well, you could send him studies on childhood obesity, but who knows if he'll even read them. Being "the fat kid" in school is very traumatic and emotional as well, and I'm not sure if he understands both that and the physical consequences.
Does he even listen? Does he not understand?

| Re: Friend's kid No he doesnt really listen. He says he is but then he takes her out for pizza or gets her a fried bbq burrito or mcdonalds. I dont think he is taking this seriously. I find it frustrating. I love this little girl and I dont want to see her like this. I have her over as often as I can. So she eats healthy at my house and she likes to get on the elliptical trainer so i let her on it whenever she wants I figure a little is better than none. I just wish he would do something for her at home.

| Re: Friend's kid Interesting. Does he take his daughter to year checkups and whatnot? If so I would assume his doctor has said something. Is there a mom in the picture?

| Re: Friend's kid Just an update incase anyone is intersted my friend has been in and out of the hospital with brain tumors so his daughter is staying with one of his cousins he is getting better and since she has been with his cousin she has lost 7lbs. she is eating alot healthier food and isnt allowed to over eat anymore. just the change in her eating has helped her to drop the 7lbs. and her dad since being diagnosed with the tumors has changed the way he eats and is even trying to stop smoking. it is sad that it took something so drastic for him to allow and make the changes that needed to be made but i'm glad that she is getting healthier i was so worried about her weight now we just gotta keep praying for him because he isnt just a friend he is my xhusband and my kid's father as well

| Re: Friend's kid Not that anyone cares but Stacia has lost more weight. She has now lost about 15 lbs. I'm so relieved that she is losing, but worry that when she goes back to living with her dad she will gain it back. She gets picked on by her cousins for her weight and I know it upsets her to be bigger than everyone else. She hates shopping for clothes because nothing fits her right because she is short for her age plus she is overweight. I mean last time she went to the doctors she weighed in at 80lbs. That is to much for a 7 yr old. But she is losing and i'm just rambling on again sorry.
