EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE TO CUT CHILD OBESITY
MORE than a third of Scots children are overweight.
While the Carnegie weight management camp that Zoe Silver attended can make a big difference, not every child will have the opportunity to go.
However, there are several things parents can do if they are worried about their child's weight.
Record GP Craig Lennox said parents should recognise that, in the majority of cases, this is not something their child will grow out of.
He said: "Contrary to popular belief, children don't normally lose their puppy fat. Research on British schoolchildren shows that 95 per cent of them become obese adults."
Although the statistics can be frightening, the solution is straightforward and simple - eat less and exercise more.
