Hello All,
I'm Sarah and I'm just about to graduate college. Over the years I just gained quite a few pounds. It was just the stress of college I think, not integrating exercise into my daily life and eating in response to stress basically. I feel as though the weight gain really hindered my experiences, but I never successfully lost weight even though I knew I wanted to. I guess it hurt me today when one of my freshmen dormmates made a snide remark about my weight gain today after not having seen me for a long time. It is about time that I really try to lose this weight, and hopefully by just telling my story every now and then I can make myself more accountable for my actions. Btw, I've never used a blog before! Hopefully I can just start with small steps by changing my diet (probably the hardest thing I've ever tried). I see the person I want to be as someone that makes healthy and smart choices for her body. My goal is to integrate those good decision-making skills about my health into my life by the time I graduate. So, that's basically me and my goals!

Hi Sarah. What is your goal weight?
You know, why is it that others just feel compelled to comment about someone else's weight gain? Why do they truly need to bother? Don't they realize that they make a total A** of themselves? And if they don't see it, then they are idiots too.
Sorry that someone did that to you.
Are you graduating this spring? Living in a dorm is tough in itself and can cause you to limit your food choices and forcing more eating out or at the cafeteria. But in that environment, you have to be careful as the salad dressings can be a killer on calories. And depending, salt can be a booger too.
Where are you and what is your major?

Thank you both Fluffymomma and Rue for your support! To answer your questions Fluffymomma, I'm over at San Francisco right now and am a biology major + econ minor. Yes, I am planning on graduating this spring. (yay!)
I am currently traveling...so I find its difficult to make healthy choices on the go. But I'll be returning soon enough, unfortunately to dead week and finals week. Historically, being a stress eater, I have done much damage on my body during dead week and finals week. Between staying up too late, eating the wrong foods and stopping exercising to study...its been rough. My goal for the next two weeks when I return is to make healthy choices, get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night and to maintain exercise daily. Thank you again everyone for your support!

Sounds like a great plan! Congrats on almost being done school! I'm a biologist as well...
I stress eat too - that's a tough one to overcome...need to replace stress eating with other rewarding habits. I'm trying breathing again...but it's not as rewarding as chocolate or chips (too bad, eh? .gif) )
