Project Nightmist

Figure I need to start my blog so I can track this here. I already track all of my food and weight via a word document.

Already... OFFICIAL start date of my "diet" change was 1-16-08. Which ironically was the same exact date I did my last diet 4 years ago.

I will be on sabbatical until March 16th from work. Nice benefit they give us. Overall my short term goal is really to get my eating habits in order, fit in a work out schedule along with my bass practice and biking. Then try to figure out how to fit all that in the same day along with my 12 hour work schedule.

I'm going to keep my goals somewhat realistic I guess. I'm hoping to be under 300 when I go back to work. Then I want to hit the 250 mark w/in a year from now if possible. After that 215-220 range. Before college when I frequented the gym I was about 218 @ 13% bf.

Tomorrow I start my first work out... I'll have to do the embarrassing meet up with one of the trainers and get something worked out to meet my goals.

I will post my 1 week weigh in this Wednesday.

1-16-08 weigh in was at 325.5.

I think those are very realistic goals! You're going to do great! Bass practice? As in fishing? Where are you working out at?

End of 1 week weigh in. 1-23-08 @ 315. Total of 10.5lbs lost.

It always seems to amaze me how eating right can drop weight. I swear to god it feels like I am eating all the damn time, but yet I loose weight. I know it is all in what we eat but it still amazes me.

Re: Project Nightmist

The first two weeks should show large movement due to the cleansing of bad stuff out of your system (aka mostly waste weight). I kind of spliced a few different diet techniques together. Little bit of "south beach", little bit of "the zone" and reading up on low GI foods that diabetics eat. I loosely follow it at best. I don't have diabetes but I find that the south beach diet is basically eating appropriately for it. Even the new diets that are coming out ("hunger free forever" are based off the glycemic index (GI). A lot of those are just trying to sell you things though.

The ironic part of all these "diets"... Is I couldn't believe how I actually ate pretty much how they listed all the stuff I used to eat and like when I wasn't overweight. So for me it was basically going back to the basics.

If you want me to send you my first week's diet log I can email it to you if you PM me your address. I have it in a word document. The only thing I didn't include on it was my water intake and the vitamins I take. But honestly you need to figure out what your body will respond to.

Re: Project Nightmist

Well end of week 2 weigh in showed no progress. I tried to tweak breakfast to eat less and modified a few other things and oddly it seems to have had a negative effect. I did make it down 1lb during the week but this mornings official weigh in is 315. So basically I stayed the exact same weight.

Going to analyze my logs to see which foods worked better last time and see which ones don't seem to be having an effect this time. Just goes to show you HOW important that first meal of the day is at sparking your metabolism.

Re: Project Nightmist

Are you tracking the calories you are eating or just the food? At the end of the day the calories you consume compared to the calories you burn is what's going to determine whether or not you lose weight.

Re: Project Nightmist

I'm tracking just about every aspect of this whole thing. I've worked out more and ate less than the previous week. I agree that calories / calories out is generally the rule of thumb. But I'm wasn't even reaching my daily allowance. I know I completely straight up forgot to eat a few times.

There is a lot of other things that influence your metabolism as I'm sure you know. Skipping the meals dropping your body out of ketosis kinda shuts some peoples metabolism off like a switch. Mine is one of them. I know if I don't eat that breakfast I can go all day with zero food and not feel hungry at all.

Re: Project Nightmist

When I was counting calories, I found that if I didn't eat my daily allowance (at least a minimum of 1000 calories/day), just because I wasn't hungry, it would have a negative effect on my weight.

Maybe you just had a plateau for a week. Don't get discouraged, and don't think that eating less and less will necessarily make you loose weight again. Keep up with counting calories and exercise, and I'm sure your body will make up it's mind and get back to loosing weight

Re: Project Nightmist

I'm not really worried. I know where I changed things. Just was experimenting with some other foods. I weigh myself daily to see what makes movement and what doesn't. Being sugar sensitive makes things harder but I haven't had any issues yet.

Last time I followed my plan I lost 38 lbs in 3 months. Trying not to get my hopes up for this first few months. But still want to achieve 15 more lbs by the middle of march.

Re: Project Nightmist

Well I figured out my issue for sure. Not enough water intake and veggie intake. Added those back into my daily meals and I'm making movement again. Todays morning weigh in before "elimination" was 312.

I've spent enough time here posting for now... Don't want to miss breakfast.

Just curious, how many calories a day are you eating?

Re: Project Nightmist

I shoot for a 2000 daily give or take 300 depending on foods. Just added up yesterday and it only came to 1800 oddly enough cause I had more than one desert... the weird part is I'm eating all the damn time and barely making my daily requirements. Which is why I have to almost force some meals in. The only "diet" foods and drinks I touch are my Diet Hansen's Soda, sugar free pudding, and sugar free Popsicles.

I might at the most have a 2-4 slices of roman meal bread occasionally. I don't much care for regular potatoes so I stay away from those.
