Welcome! And congratulations on almost reaching your first goal! That has got to feel incredible. Now that you are down almost 20 lbs, how are you feeling? Are you noticing a difference with your energy levels? I sure am. I'm still trying to find the right balance with the calories but I love the way I feel when I exercise! Heck, I even love being sore the rest of the day when I've over did it! Anyway, head down to the blog spot and get yourself started with a blog and log your progress. Believe me, it helps to have someone, even a blog, to be accountable to! Good Luck!

Bob you seem to be off to a great start! Just remember that exercise is great, but counting those calories is just as important! I think 15 mins is fine to start with, just add longer as it becomes easier.
So far so good!

I love the short term smaller goals, that will really help you focus hard and something obtainable in the near future.
In addition to the exercise changes, have you thought about whether you were going to make any changes in your eating regimen?

In addition to the exercise changes, have you thought about whether you were going to make any changes in your eating regimen? | yes im trying to eat out less. and cook more, i eat out at fast food restaraunts allot. when i was in the house all the time i got used to having my family stop by mcdonalds or whataburger or taco bell ect.... on the way over.
it was really hard just to cut down a little, because my blood sugar kept dropping. id get the shakes and have to eat fast which normally ment fast food. the biggest success ive had is i was able to stop drinking sugar based sodas, now im finally used to diet sodas and i find i enjoy water more.
any suggestions on how to eat when your out and still keep the calories down would be awesome!

So far so good! | yea i went again today and went 20 min. where i work out they have all kinds of stuff, i got on a tread mill and walked a fast pace walk for 10 minutes, it inclines so its like your walking up hill a little. i got down and my my legs felt like they wernt there lol.
im working on upper body one day and lower body the next day, and always walking as much as i can on the treadmill. today was the first day i went 10 min, uphill, before i could only go 5 min.
im working on the calories little by little ive always been a big eater, even when i was young and healthy.
I used to smoke ciggerettes, i thought that was the hardest thing to quit, ive found fast food is harder.

I couldn't agree more! I had to take my MIL to a specialist in another town so I went in my walking clothes and while she was at her appointment I took my walk. I ended up walking by the back of a restaurant and I could smell that greasy fried smell coming out of their vents. I have to admit I drooled. But, I didn't go in, I just kept walking and told my body to feast on itself! I've got some pretty good fat and grease built up around my belly already!
As for the big meal size, to make it easier to transition, serve yourself smaller portions of the denser calorie foods and large portions of salads and raw vegies. Make sure you chew every bite at least 25 times. Believe me, after you've properly chewed your way through a couple of cups of salad greens and vegies, your brain will think you have been on the binge of all binges! Yeah, it's a mind trick, but it works!
Good Luck!
P.S. Tell your family to STOP enabling you! Forbid each and every one of them to bring you anymore fast food. Make them swear to uphold their promise, no matter how much you may plead or beg on a weak day. Ask them to bring over a bag of mini carrots or apples instead!

I've dealt with anxiety my entire life, mostly social anxiety, so I know how it feels. It's especially difficult to lose weight without a support system, so I hope you're able to find that. Good luck to you.

im able to get out plenty on my own now, my family did do that allot, but now im my own worst enemy. They just did that when i was having anxiety attacks all the time. I think it would still be a good idea to let them know to stop bringing the "hey you gotta try this new restaraunt leftovers" or the "try this new cake that came out at tom thumb"(grocery store here in texas)
i like salads i think ill try eating allot of that before i order a main course, you are very insperationable. i sent you a friend request. I enjoy chatting with you.

Bob, welcome to the group. And you know what? Moving 10-15 minutes in the gym is better than not moving at all. Don't do more than you can do right now. But at least you are trying....that's what matters. Then as the weight drops, you will be able to move more.
I was diagnosed as Diabetic as well. I worked HARD to get my weight up so I could be one! Not really, just trying to make light of me. But I did work awefully hard to get myself where I am today and now I know what I have to do. It's no longer about looking thin and pretty, it's about being healthy and being able to watch my son grow up!
I hope we become one of your support systems. People are here all day. I sure do wish you success, Bob.

Hi Bob, welcome to the site. It sounds like you're off to a great start. The nice thing about exercise is your endurance increases fast. You've already doubled your time it sounds like. How many days a week are you planning on going to the gym?

Hi Bob, Welcome to the boards......it's a great place. Yes....stick with it, its amazing how quickly your endurance builds.
"i notice im not getting as sleepy during the day. Which is great! I always feel tired and run down." Me too.......I was always one that felt tired and run down and had to have a nap everyday around 2pm-4pm. I'm proud to say no more nappies for me....and my energy level has definitely increased.
You are doing great, keep it up Bob!!!!

I noticed your "burger scale" is way over there, looks like your REALLY doing well. only 10lbs
I cant wait till mine gets that far . | You'll be there before you know it, I've been doing this over a year. The funny part is it has been without question the best year of my life, it's great being able to do things you couldn't do. And all the other little changes too. They more than outweigh the negatives of watching what you're eating (I don't even see the exercise as a negative since I look forward to it even though it was hard at first).
That's great that you aren't getting as tired during the day. That and the extra energy when you're working out must be a great feeling. I don't know about you but those are the kinds of things that have kept me motivated through all of this.
