| My weight loss group I joined a weight loss group about 6 weeks ago. The lady sells Herbalife but they don't insist you buy anything from them. We all paid $29 to join the group and at the end of 12 weeks the person who loses the most weight gets 50%of the money, 2nd place gets 30%, and 3rd gets 20%. About 30 people joined up. Every week we discuss different topics like last week was about how to read food labels and portion sizes. You have to pay a dollar for every pound you gain and 5 dollars if you miss a meeting. That money goes to the person who loses the most inches at the end of the 12 weeks. Sofar, I must say it's been a great motivator. All week long I think about how I don't want to pay a buck and I'd like to win the grand prize. Plus we all get together and talk about what we've done all week to take off the pounds.
Everyone who lost weight that week gets a ticket and they draw 2 tickets at the end of the night for a prize (either a free individual pie made out of Herbalife protien shakes which are delicious or another Herbalife product). It's all been a lot of fun and a challenge, which really motivates me. Just thought I'd share, thanks for reading, Laurie

| Re: My weight loss group Well this is my second attempt at posting, must be I hit the wrong button! Anyway, is there something wrong with Herbalife? I don't use it but one of the team leaders has used it since Feb. and is down 30#. I use similar stuff (protein shakes) but I buy them at WalMart b/c it's quite a bit cheaper and I need the extra protien with all the exercising I'm doing. They don't hard sell you on the products. The group is very laid back and tries to encourages each other, kind of like they do here. The accountability to the group and having a chance to make some money doing something I need to do anyway gives me a lot of motivation throughout the week.

The big reason I'm not a huge fan of it is because it's basically a pyramid scheme. Are you talking about the meal replacement or the pills?

| Re: My weight loss group I'm not sure if the protein shakes would be considered a meal replacement for me, but I don't use any of their pills. My MIL bought some of their pills called "snack attack" that is supposed to take away cravings, but she says they haven't helped much. Main ingedient is calcium, not sure how that would curb an appitite. Anyway, I picked up an interesting book at the library yesterday called "The New Rules of Lifting for Women". It advocates more intense workouts every other day using a lot heavier weights than women usually do. I have been hitting the treadmill doing about 4 miles a day and now I've gotten to the point where it's not enough to make me sweat and get my heart rate up enough. I tried doing some interval training today on the treadmill. I walked 3.8 mph for 2 minutes then I kicked it up to 5 mph for one minute then back to 3.8 for two minutes for a mile. Then I did some weight lifting as the book suggested ,then I walked for a 1/2 a mile @ 4 mph. I felt like I really got worked out like I did when I first started exercising. I used the protein shakes twice today b/c I think my body needs the extra protein. The main gist of the book is that its not the workout but the recovery from the workout that increases stamina, weight loss and good muscle tone by increasing your resting metabolism. If any of you have any advice or experience on working out I'd be glad to hear it - Laurie
