| My journey to a thinner me.... I am so happy!!!
I weighed myself this morning and yesterday wasn't my best day, I thought I messed everything up...but guess what?????
I lost 8 lbs!!!!!! In one week!!!!!!:eek4: I cannot believe it!
I know that mostly is water, but I still am 8 lbs lighter and I feel great!
Can't wait to start this new week, needless to say how much more motivated I am now!
I guess I've been doing something right after all.

Although I was happy and proud, I fell off the wagon yesterday .....and I realised one thing, I eat more and crave junk more when I'm down and last night was a bad night for me....I'm not proud, but I will not give up, no way! So today's a new day!!

Everyone has a setback every here and there, it's very tough to stay perfect. Are there any other activities you could focus your energy into when you are down in an effort to keep your mind off of food?

Like housework, my kids, laundry, redecorating (I can't get started although I've been wanting to change stuff in my house for a long time)...I just need to stay focused and talk to myself a lot!!
I found a trick...instead of keeping my scale in the bathroom like most people do (where it belongs), I put mine in the kitchen right between the food cabinet and the fridge, so today when I or if I have a certain craving and head straight to the kitchen to get something to eat "unconsciously" (cause sometimes I don't even realise it....i swear!), when I see the scale my mind will get back on track and make me leave the kitchen or have a more healthy low-cal snack
So there...another day starting and hopefully on a better note!
Have a nice day everyone

Have a nice day everyone | That scale idea is great!! Do guests ever ask you why it's there?
My favorite trick is to wrap chains with a big padlock on the door handles with a combination lock, and to put an attack dog inside the fridge, but I think your idea is a lot better. Maybe I'll try it!

I like your idea of the padlocks and the dog...but ahem...I'll stick to my idea lol

For me it can be like a kind of selective memory loss, like eating is such second nature my brain doesn't remember doing it (like breathing in and out and blinking )!
Well congratulations on the good start. Something important though, don't get discouraged if the rate at which you lose weight gets slower. In the first month or couple of months the weight may very well fall off (like you mentioned, it can be water and your body adapting to the new lifestyle) but after that you probably don't want to lose more than 1-2lbs a week. I'm not an expert but the medical advice I've gotten all seems to agree that anything above 2lbs per week can be a bit unhealthy. Sort of frustrating when you're into it but in the long run it helps to keep the weight off.
Congratulations again!

Congratulations again! | I think it may depend on how you are losing the weight and how much you weigh to begin with that determines whether or not losing more than 1-2 lbs a week is unhealthy. Someone that weighs 600lbs might be OK losing more weight per week than someone who weighs 250lbs, and as long as their not crash dieting, I would surmise everything should be on the up and up.

I gotta get that motivation back quick!! | Sometimes it takes me sitting down and running through a list of positives of losing weight as a tactic to get me motivated to work out more. Yes I actually created a list. Some of those things include:
Positives of not being overweight: - 50% less likely to get cancer
- less likely to have joint/bone problems later in life
- lengthened lifespan; I want to see my kids grow up and see my grandkids
- less likely to have cardiovascular disease
- decreased chance of having diabetes
- day to day life is easier from both a comfort and cost perspective
- self confidence goes up
- easier to get clothes to fit
- less likely to be descriminated against
- less likely for my kids to follow in my footsteps
- better sex life
- exercise becomes even easier
etc. etc. etc.... you get the idea. I review this list very frequently.
Everyone slips up once in a while, what is important is that you use your disgust and disappointments as fuel to get back on track!! You wouldn't be here if you didn't want to lose weight and didn't want to make an effort. I believe that you have it in you!
