| Drum roll please... I have lost a total of 10.5 lbs since I joined this website. I lost 4 lbs in the last week, because I decided to try to experiment with my diet and cut out all forms of yeast.
I'm allergic to yeast, but it is a very difficult thing to avoid as it can be found in the skins of a lot of fruits & vegetables, most dairy, and tons of other stuff. But I had been feeling incredibly bloated, and I figured that my allergies were the main cause, and I was right!
Just in the past 5 days, my stomach has gone back to being almost completely flat. I'm no longer bloated, and have a lot more energy.
I also haven't been getting the sugar cravings I used to always have... and without those, I have a feeling it will be a lot easier to drop the rest of the weight I want to lose.

| Re: Drum roll please... Wow! Tough list. I never would have thought about vinegar.
I know that when I'm eating low carb/low GI I see a huge improvement in terms of yeast infections. Now I'm starting to see why that is. Thanks!

| Re: Drum roll please... All the fish and chicken I want, I can eat red meat although I try to limit myself to once or twice a week, I can have rice, domestic fruits (berries, peaches, nectarines, apples, etc. Oranges & grapes are a no-go, as they have yeast in their skins.) most vegetables, some nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts) and some other stuff....
I can't eat flour, but I can have all the whole grains I want.
I typically start my day off with a bowl of oatmeal with a little bit of soy milk & cinnamon to sweeten it a little. I'll add in some almond slivers for protein.
Lunch I'll have some wild salmon or chicken that is leftover from the dinner I made the night before, then I'll have some berries & apples to snack.
Dinner is fish (I prefer salmon, but any kind works) or chicken and rice and/or lightly steamed veggies. I spice the fish and/or chicken with different herbs/spices. No sauces. But it's still delicious. Garlic is my friend.

I was eating tons of yeast-containing foods for a long time without even realizing they had yeast in them! Grapes especially. I love my grapes, so that's a hard one for me. More difficult than the no-sugar rule (i haven't had sugar cravings at all!!)
Basically I will slowly introduce individual items back into my diet once I have been eating this way for over 30 days, but will still have to be careful not to eat too much of them. I'll be introducing honey back into my diet first, as my tea tastes bland without it.

Amazing what cutting out a little yeast can do for ya! | It's amazing yeast is almost toxic to us, I have an autistic son so I read Jenny McCarthy's book about autism and her battle to save her son and I found out that a huge part of their behavior is because of yeast build up in there system, by changing an autistic child to a wheat and gluten free diet it won't cure them but it will curb there behavior more toward normal, so I take this to mean that yeast wreaks havoc on our bodies.

| Re: Drum roll please... Yesterday was my first day back to work since I started my new eating regime, and I must say... I knew it was hard not to eat bad stuff at work, but I never realized just how hard until I cut 99% of sugars out of my diet!!! All day I had to look at the sugary/fatty pastries in the store, then on my break (when I'd usually make myself a vanilla soy latte) I had to just keep drinking alternating cups of water and herbal tea.
The worst part about it was that I couldn't make my morning oatmeal, since I started work at 5am and was in no way going to get up extra early for that, so by the end of it I had a wicked headache since all I ate was a couple of apples and some almonds.
But I didn't give into tempations!!! I came home and made myself some wild salmon and went to take a nap until my headache went away.

| Re: Drum roll please... Good for you Erin! That's a tough plan to stick to at home, much less in the office. Have you thought about making the oatmeal the night before and heating it up in the microwave at work? It might not be as good, but it's better than getting a headache.
