| I don't know what to do... I bought a treadmill recently and now when I exercise on it, I get this horrible burning sensation in my muscles and I can't even walk for 15 min. I get so frustrated because I'm not even beginning to be tired and I can't walk anymore because of the pain... I really don't know what to do. The pain is on exactly the same place on both legs (just above my ankles) and I don't know what to do....

| Re: I don't know what to do... you have shin splints, the runners you have are not correct for the arch in your foot but this will not resolve the issue the healing process usually takes a week of rest with ice treatment for 20 minutes twice a day. Over-the-counter oain meds will also help. Do not resume running for another 2-4 weeks.

and the pain isn't in the front of my legs. It's in the outter parts above the ankles.

Front=shin splints Rear=achilles/calves
If it's the fronts you may want to look into a custom orthotic foot insert for your shoe. Again, you haven't used these muscles in a while I surmise, and I bet after a while they'll start to go away, so don't give up in the mean time!

| Re: I don't know what to do... neither, OD...
If you look at the picture, it's the muscle named peroneo... Sorry, I really don't know the tecnical term...
I used to have these pains when I was slim and fit. I used to work out 14 hours/week and I had them, but now they're really worse...
