| Audrey's New Years Blog So it's not quite the new year yet, but my return to healthiness doesn't have to wait until the new year.
I haven't be good at all this holiday season. I've taken about two weeks off of the gym, and I've indulged in a lot more things that I perhaps should have.
I figured I needed a fresh start (and a fresh blog since I have more than 8.5 lbs to loose now ).
Here I go!

I've been better this weekend. Not up to 100% with my eating, but better than I have been, and have been to the gym both Saturday and today.
Here's to a better week!

No gym today as it's closed, but I have emptied the house of all the crappy foods I've been indugling over Christmas, and both my fiance and I are happy to get back to eating healthy again.
I'm most likely update again tomorrow after I go to the gym.

| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog I think I'm finally getting the hang of hiit.
I don't think I was giving myself enough recovery time in between my intervals, so I'd get exhausted, and work really hard, but couldn't do many intervals.
Today I did:
30 seconds jog @ 6.0 mph
30 seconds run @ 8.5 mph
30 seconds jog @ 6.0 mph
1 minute power-walk @ 4.0 mph
Lather, rinse repeat.
I was able to do more intervals than I ever have before, and instead of taking a breather afterwards and feeling like I could do it all over again, I'm now still feeling the effects over 2 hours later.
I've been reading more and more about hiit and a lot of info says that you're supposed to feel completely drained afterwards, and then your metabolism will increase throughout the rest of the day because your body is trying to recover from the ass-kicking you gave it. You're supposed to use more oxygen because of EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption).
I think I've got a friend of mine hooked on it too. We went to the gym together on Sunday and she seemed really interested in it. I think like me she was looking for something different and interesting to do at the gym.

| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog Hey Audrey, I'm betting that very few of us were "good" over the holidays, lol. I'm up a couple pounds myself, but I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. Why is that once you stop for a while, it is so hard to get back on a track!!! Once I do get back on track with the healthy eating/exericising, I'm sure I'll be okay, it is just getting to that point that is the struggle. You should be proud of yourself for all of the weight you have lost so far, and now that you are just 10 pounds from your goal, I'm sure you'll get there soon (especially since all of the Christmas goodies should be gone). Good luck!

I always feel drained afterwards, and I know I am doing good because my heart rate is usually between 165 and 180 after only a few minutes!
You'll notice that you can do more and more and more intervals as time goes on.

I don't feel as drained today as I did yesterday, so I guess I should work harder tomorrow.

| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog Yesterday I got a good treadmill, that still had static, but never reset itself.
My Workout:
Warm Up:
Walked @ 4.0mph 2.5 minutes
Jogged @ 6.5mph 2.0 minutes
Intervals:
Jogged @ 6.5mph .5 minutes
Ran @ 8.5mph .5 minutes
Walked @ 4.0mph 1 minute
Lather, rinse, repeat.
My intervals were 2 minutes long, and I ended up doing 13 of them.
After that I was feeling not too bad, so I ran at 7.5 for a minute, and then upped it 8.0 right away, but could only do half a minute before I felt like I was going to die.
I have come to the realization that no matter how hard I workout, it's not going to make any difference if my eating isn't on track. My fiance and I have been way more lax about the meals lately, and I haven't been grocery shopping for a while, so I've been grabbing 'whatever' for lunch etc.
I started counting calories again this morning *sigh*. I really didn't want to, but it's a necessity if I want to loose my last bit of weight, and I'd like to loose half of it before the wedding I'm attending at the beginning of February.
I know how to eat and maintain my weight without counting calories, now I just need to get to that maintain weight.
I should go get ready though, I'm going to the gym with my workout buddy in about half an hour

Getting healthy is more eating than exercise, so it's good you started counting calories again....
I used to be a workout/exercise nut in highschool and my first semester in college since I played sports competitively, but ate like crap. Cold turkey I started eating right and I got noticeably stronger and leaner so fast it was scary. I've been eating healthy ever since and won't look back. Your exercise habits have been really good lately, so hopefully once you combine it with healthy eating again you too won't look back. Good luck Audrey!

I had a huge headache after work today from a particularily stressful day, and I really wasn't feeling the gym. But I popped a couple of tylenol and off I went, and I felt great when I was there, but my headache returned when I got home. It's pretty much gone now though
I'm excited for the rest of the week!

| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog As usual, I get back into it, and then hit a snag (this time call best-cheesecake-evar), and I'm kinda back in limbo.
I went to the gym yesterday, but not today. I plan to get back on my calorie-counting (again) and go to the gym Saturday and Sunday.
It's not that hard to do, I don't know why I can't stick with it consistantly.
I need to get this weight off. I'm tried of fighting with it.
I've been a lot happier with my body lately though. I think although my weight has maintained (mostly), I've lost some fat off my tummy. I'll have to post pictures sometime. I should also make a trip to my parents and see what their scale says about my body fat now I was going to ask at my gym about getting it tested as well. Maybe tomorrow too.

| Re: Audrey's New Years Blog Went to the gym today.
I changed my routine a little bit with the hiit. The last couple times I'd been to the gym, I'd been doing 15 2 minute intervals.
1 minute walking @ 4.0mph
30 seconds jogging @ 6.5mph
30 seconds running @ 8.5mph
After doing half an hour of that, I'm feeling tired, but still not bad after a breather.
So today for 5 intervals I did:
1.5 minutes jogging at 6.0mph
30 seconds running @ 8.5mph
And since that really tuckered me out, I did 5 more intervals of the old way with the walking. Took me a while to recover from that.
My eating hasn't been great today. I think it doesn't help I had to leave the house pretty early today without breakfast. I'll do better tomorrow
